Hey Tree, I've been wanting to work on backgrounds and landscape drawing for quite some time, and so naturally I'm coming to you for help. I was just wondering if you could give me either some advice or redirect me somewhere that'll get me going in the right direction. I have literally no experience with drawing landscapes and pretty much all of the ideas I've had in my head for years are based on expression through landscapes, so I'd be extremely grateful if you could help me out a little. If you wanna send a note so this doesn't clutter up this comment section, that's fine by me!
Also, you might be wondering why I'm commenting on this piece specifically. Well, if you recall one time in Ian's stream where I shared a song called 'Floating Trees' from C418 . This song makes me think of something like this, just warmly colored and in a much more vast sky. So, I was wondering if I could kinda take this idea and do my own colored version of it, applying any skills I learn on drawing landscapes (with credit going to you, of course).

Sorry for taking some time to respond, until now I've been on vacation!
First of all, yes of course you can take inspiration from me, I find that to be a huge compliment. Take this idea, and make it something better.
Secondly, some advice.
I think that the most important thing you can do when trying to paint landscapes, is to simply look around you and notice things. Look up and notice what color of blue the sky is, study the clouds figure out their shapes, and what makes them look like clouds. Look at the ground, and study what makes a blade of grass look like it does. Look out across fields and see how the textures slowly blend together, from individual shapes to a smooth whole. When you're washing your hands, look at the water as it falls, notice how it refracts the things surrounding it.
When you notice things like these, you can file them away in a big collection of details in your head. And when you're painting, you can call upon those details. Say, for example, you want to paint a sky at sunset. You've seen sunsets before, and since you spent time to study them and figure out how they work, you can apply the things you learned readily into your painting.
Anyway, sorry for the long winded explanation. Lots of it is probably redundant, but I spent time to write it all out and I'm going to keep it in dang it!
