Description
Work In Progress.Illustration I've been working on and off on for a few weeks.
From Guy Gavriel Kay's "The Wandering Fire," part of the Fionavar Trilogy.
Been batting this drawing around in my head for a long time, finally decided to sit down and give it go.

The Wild Hunt? Wow, you've done an amazing job! I hope to see it finished someday. Love that series so much.

Haha. Me too. I've been so busy I've had very little time to draw since I posted this...

I understand having no time to get things done. Hehe. For this thing, I have to say it will be well worth the wait.

Owein??
So I'm unhealthily obsessed with this series, and I check dA every so often to find new work, and I count this as rather new.
It's awesome! I love the way you gave Owein (it's Owein, right?) and Cargail, I think his name is, shape and structure, but you also made them ghosty and ethereal. I do also agree with =shoomlah's comment about the awesomeness of the trees.

Thanks! And yeah it's Owein and Cargail. I love the series as well. I wish I had more free time to work on this. It's going so slowly since my time to work on it has been pretty sporadic.
There's so much Tolkien and Wheel of Time and Golden Compass art on DeviantArt... figured Fionavar deserved some love heh.

Oh yeah... Wheel of Time. I tried to read that... I'm working on it.
And you are absolutely right! There is not nearly enough Fionavar work on here!

Wheel of Time is pretty derivative but is enjoyable for the first few books however it quickly degenerates into too many characters so that the plot advances maybe a day in a 600 page book.

I kind of got the feeling it would do that. It's beyond me how anyone can write 12 books on one or two characters.

WHUT you still draw
Awesome trees. That main figure better continue on his current road towards badassery if he is to out-awesome those trees.

When I can find the time, which isn't often enough.
Hopefully the guy will be badass? I'm still trying to figure out how to depict him as he's described in the book as being clearly a human form with a crown and all, but made out of smoke and shadow.
So yeah. Smoke/clouds/etc. have always been my nemesis. As have horses. So I set myself a few challenges in this one heh.
Joe Elliott dropped in yesterday for a pint of Guiness. Was good catching up. Saw Rory last weekend in NYC. Smacked him around a bit about getting his crap together. How are things with you? MS and the Northwest treating you well?
