Description
You were right, it's a boy.Told ya! Us witches know these things...
I've been hacking and slashing my latest project, truth be told it doesn't even have a decent title yet! It's simply been Tales from the Coin Spinner: Episode Two which is actually the subtitle (or would that be the title, and it's missing an appropriate subtitle?). It's a continuation of themes from a magic coin being used irresponsibly. Unfortunately I'm chopping an entire chapter. I wanted one person happy with the transformation, while the other one was not-so-happy but a slave to carnal desires (sort of like a reeeaaally bad roofie after getting turned into a girl).
I like using the Coin Spinner because, well I'm a sucker for twisted wizards and misused magical trinkets! But more importantly these books are exercises in sketching out a robust magic system/mythos for some much larger projects on the back burner.
This image/scene I wanted to sneak in as a closing segment but I didn't want to end things on poorly executed cliffhangers as I've been doing. Mainly because the rendering and page composition process is exhausting. I'm at the point now where it takes me (depending on the scene) a very long time before I'll actually commit to a render. Mostly I feel this is because I'm paying more attention to detail, lighting and proper articulation of the characters. I don't use a pose preset and snap a render anymore! As an example my establishing shot for the opening scene took all day.. just for a single image but that one was by far the most complex one I've done yet. Tons of lights, props, and actors in an outdoor environment. And after all that? I'm STILL upset at the image because I let a detail slip! My streetlights aren't rendering their light emission sources! I noticed a few hours into the render, but I wonder had I not said anything if anyone would even notice!
I'm holding myself to releasing this comic by *this weekend* - I thought I could've had it done last weekend but... I had to redo some images. It's x-rated so I won't be able to host it here. I've some tweaks here and there but for the most part it's done enough. If I keep on trying to optimize it it'll never be released!

All done. For better or for worse.... I'm sad I had to chop a section out, but I probably shouldn't have used such a large cast as it split the story up, just about turning it into two stories under a single umbrella.

Is this story posted somewhere online or has it just not been released yet?

Hey ahem, sorry it is not done... Well it was... kinda. But it was so bare bones I had to flesh out some parts!
It takes me so very long to render a complex image. I use a progressive rendering technique, and in order to iron out "noise" I have to run many iterations of rendering the scene which means I can complete 1 full page image a day or 2-3 partial page images depending on a variety of factors. Sometimes still only one image / day!
Currently I am working on a middle chapter that fleshes this comic out. Originally I had intended to just to a simple smut piece but I just can't. This whole "Coin Spinner" series I had intended to be my own practice for storytelling just as much as rendering, artwork and pulse rate modulation (ie steamy sexual exploration!) so that I can have the skills I need to write my Dirge of Darkness: the Virgin Birth of the Cold Queen (God I'm horrible at naming things!) but seriously, it's my Game of Thrones meets Harry Potter meets Fire and Ice (old 80s movie, and so very awesome).
I thought I could finish it by Christmas, but here I am one month later... Dear God, I'm just up to the ides of the transformation scene! I might have to stop using Iray for rendering... it just takes too damn long. I'm working my butt off and saving so I can buy a 1080ti when they launch. I don't care how expensive they are, I am *that* desperate for CUDA core-based video cards that are the heart of the Iray render process. But, I'm afraid that even with those cards it will still take hours!
Well, maybe hours is okay. It's DAYS that kill me, err well mostΒ of the day. I think my rig can do 13k iterations in ~18 hours at 1080p with a pretty complex scene (buuuuut under 8 gigs of texture/material data).
It's late, I've rambled! This wasn't just a reply to you AHEM in the end so much as it was a general update! Sorry I'm a fewΒ months late in replying!
I'm delirious, it's been a really long week.
Side note: Sneak Peek coming soon! A... mini comic - to hold us all over until the masterpiece is finished.Β
