Description Β Based on Randall going to prison in the Monsters, Inc. Laugh factory comics.

I'm starting to get the hang of him, I think!

Oui, those Boom comics. Introducing SID from Toy Story of all people? WHY did they have to have a crossover when Monsters Inc. is grand enough for stories on it's own (Disney is admitting this with that Monsters at Work series coming). The artwork was good on the comic, the best in my opinion so far, but the story was.....it grew worse. I mean bringing Randall back for the start was the obvious choice, and making Sullivan go nuts sure was a good run...but then just having it wrap up so simply (without regard to previous issues), fell flat. Then from there, things got out of whack with the introduction of Sid. I mean, HE breaks Randall and Waternoose out of a maximum security monster prison? HOW? And there's no way Randall would work with Waternoose again, the whole thing just...ugh....

As for Kingdom Hearts 3, I was thrilled when MI got leaked. I knew for certain Randall was going to show up before the Orchestra trailer, but was worried how they'd portray him and what would happen to him in the end....
...honestly...it could have been better...BUT...it could have been SO much worse.
While it's sad that Buscemi couldn't reprise his role, the attitude they gave Randall in KH3 was, admittedly...off balance. Most people take it as his "oh bad guy trying to rule world/factory" blah blah blah...oh the ignorance.
Honestly, Sora isn't as good a judge of character as others say he is. I mean, one word from Sullivan is all it takes for him to dislike Randall, who admittedly said he was almost KILLED by the other two.

Truth is...there IS an explanation for why Randall is so overcharged (acting not like himself) in Kingdom Hearts 3. The reason why his actual obsession for recognition and respect was shown as pure selfishness mixed with lethal intent. Think I'm the only one who noticed it...

Explanation aside, the ending of the world was...weird to watch. And it's not like what Sora did ACTUALLY stops him from coming back afterall. But the thing is...this is NOT the worst outcome. I mean, we were dealing with Vanitas and DARKNESS for crying out loud. The worst that could have happened is he could have gotten killed or devoured by Heartless or something. The fact he WASN'T, however....proves Randall's actually not as bad as people think he is. He's actually got a strong heart with light in there.

-------
Whoa, a lot said there, sorry, fan ha ha ha.
Anyway, despite the position he is, this is a VERY nice piece. Randall is SO difficult to make, from the design of his limbs, face, and eyes, to making the structure right. But you captured him pretty well here. Few artists can actually do him justice and you've done amazing here.

I guess when it comes to Sora visiting other worlds to stop the Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed, he still follows the code of somehow not meddling in the affairs of other worlds which might explain why he didn't question any further about who Randall really was for all he knew was that he had to focus on his one mission to find out Xehanort's intentions and to rescue Aqua from the dark realm in needing her help to awaken Ventus. But then again, it doesn't excuse the fact that just because of what Mike and Sully said about Randall trying to take screams from the company by force does not make it the entire truth, especially if they don't mention Waternoose's involvement, as if still trying to pass him off as a victim being forced into this when I see it as the other way around. I was just ticked off real bad how Randall was brought in like this to be treated as nothing but a punching bag just because a certain script demands it, even making him beyond too evil which is out of character even for him, and Sora just believes Mike and Sully without questioning them about Randall further on why he really did what he did and how long its been going on which could have had him trying to bring peace or something between the characters of Monsters Inc in trying to understand one another to be better. I hate the villain-seeking-revenge clichΓ© crap they used just to demonize and mistreat Randall out of spite just like that, and you are right that the creators or whoever was in charge of the game did not do that good of a job at making Sora the kind who just believes only one side of the story instead of two sides, not being a good judge of character to even know Randall himself and only sees him as an "irredeemable villain" because Mike and Sully told him so, and if he thinks using the key to lock that same door they threw Randall in will keep him out, they might as well lock all of the doors to the worlds if they don't want him coming in through any of them.

I doubt it's the whole meddling thing, as it's usually Sora who ends up doing it and Donald has to remind him NOT to. But, yes, the whole finding Ventus thing was probably the forefront of his mind. I suppose whatever childhood grace of understanding Sora once had is gone with age...

Mentioning Waternoose would have opened up a whole suite of other issues, so I kind of understand why they didn't mention him...but yeah, placing the blame entirely on Randall wasn't the whole truth.

While placing in Vanitas in that world actually made perfect sense (given his need for reconstruction), and having him use Randall has a pawn was also a good move, I do think a better ending could have been done. But like I said before, it could have been much worth, with his death, either by darkness or Vanitas.
As for Randall's over-the-top personality...well, that's actually Vanitas' fault. People just accept the show, but people who know Randall well, and know about what Vanitas is/cando, can figure out that Vanitas was the one that made Randall's desires go into overload, and it actually has canon sense.

Honestly, I guess I can't blame Sora too much...I mean, the direction of Kingdom Hearts 3...well...let's just say that, honestly, I think structure-wise 3 is my least favorite. The balance of FF and Disney/Pixar was damaged and past things of the series (sealing world keyholes, darkness isn't all bad, etc.) have been thrown out the window in favor of a private story that just spits on the series original structure. Monumental moments for original characters were just shoved together at the end for a quick resolution that people just accepted because it's what they wanted.

Yeah, it's weird how people think Randall can't come back normally from the film version of things, and again with Sora and locking the door. I mean, he can. There are millions of doors to pick from. Primarily this 'locking feature' was to seal world keyholes to prevent Heartless from getting to them (everybody remember THAT?), but it doesn't stop them at all from coming TO the world, that's fact. So sure, Sora sealed a single door and it probably won't open, but he can't bare individuals from coming to a world.

Hehe, it's okay, rant on! I couldn't agree with you more, actually. The comic started off promising, but as you say, fell flat for me too. And I really wish that Sid wasn't in it as well. The only thing I LOVE though, is Randall's mugshot! The one where someone literally holds him by the neck so he can't escape. It's simple but I love it!

As for Kingdom hearts, I've only seen the cutscenes. And while I love his design and how he's animated, the way he delivers his lines is off and that bothers me. As for the whole KH story, I never got into it. I desperatly tried to play the first two games but I found them sooo boring...ended up playing Birth by Sleep and it was OK, but I'm not devoted to the story in any way so I can't really help you on that one!

And thank you so much for the critique I just started drawing him so I need to practise a lot until I get him right!

Oh jeez I remember that. Kind of overkill ain't it? Then again, know he turn invisible...but still. Yeah, neat shot despite Randall technically shouldn't be there heh.

Honestly, I find the first two games awesome...and OK when the past stuff with BBS came in...but then it kind of...gets...convoluted with time travel stuff. Really, it's a kind of 'less is more' sort of thing...now to understand things, not only do you have to play the main series, you also gotta look into some mobile game (I think it's ONLY mobile game)....
As for Randall, I'll do a brief. It's all because of the person who used him as a pawn, this guy named Vanitas. That guy is basically darkness incarnate and is literally filled with negative emotions (hence how he's using MI to fix himself). As we know, Randall got QUITE beat up at the end of MI, and seems healthy in KH3. Reason? Vanitas HEALED him. But, in the dark sort of way...so when Randall DID get fixed up, he was also infused with negative emotions, which threw his own desires into overdrive. Instead of respect and admiration, suddenly it was "taking over the company"...Randall wasn't himself because Vanitas quite literally messed with his head. Β

You seem to be doing a really bang-up job I must say, and I've seen a lot of Randall art. Getting his proportions right looks almost nightmarish, but for this guy, it's worth it!
Oh hey, Valentines day is coming up, maybe you should try Randall here as cupid! Or maybe part-way when he realizes being that means being diapered ha! Still, I think it would be hilarious to see our lizard boy here strapped in a thick disposable pamper (probably for his rear legs and tail), might do him some good (the contrast of him being scary and cute at the same time would be cool). The guy probably didn't have a good childhood either, so starting over might make him more agreeable! Β

Oh, I see! Thanks for the explanation. It still doesn't help the fact that he's phrasing his lines weirdly, thought! (jk) Either way, I'm happy they brought him back! As I said, I really like the animations of him in the game!

As for Valentine's day, I do have a sketched lined out, but this week has been - and is going to be - really hectic for me. I'm in the middle of changing jobs (or rather, advancing to a higher position) and on Valentine's Day I'm going to fly to Germany to hang out with my girlfriend, so we'll see how much free time I'll have in between. Plus, I need to prioritize my professional art portfolio where fanart is off bounds, haha. But there will definetly be more art of him for sure! I'll make time.

Yeah, I saw that short story of KH3. I liked Randall, but hated the rest. Especially Sora. It seemed like something stupid anyway. They should have turned Randall over to authorities, not sending him back to the Cajuns house. I think Disney loves to hate lizards.
