Mathew is one of my subjects that I've had the pleasure of meeting in person, and he's every bit as sweet as he is handsome.

I really struggled when selecting the reference photo I was going to work off of, there were a number of pictures that would have made good paintings. I had dwindled the list down to three, and the two I didn't use showcased Mathew's delicious body more, but the fun nature of the picture I chose, with the neat lighting and reflective colours won over the artist in me. I think it was the right decision and made a rather fun piece. Still, I'll probably be sure to use one of the other pictures in the second round.
