Hmm. Great work. I like the dock (Docky people need to stick together), but I'm wondering why you don't use Chrome instead of Chromium? MUCH stabler and the icon looks hella cooler. BTW, what program is that with the Photoshop CS2 (or 3) icon?

TheGrayson In reply to Gomeriffic [2010-03-23 20:07:34 +0000 UTC]
1. There's little to know difference, Chrome was made by the same people who made Chromium just that Chrome updates according to Chromium's milestones.
2.I hate flashy colors, it's the same icon, different colors, it really doesn't matter .
3.It's Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Yes, I know it's Photoshop CS2, but I'm wondering how you got it to work correctly on Ubuntu. I have tried perilously to no avail.

Hey, what gtk are you using? And the icons? Have you a link for the fonts?
Thx, your screenshots is pretty cool.

The theme I'm using is Wasp, I deleted the panel within the GTK theme to enable the use of an image as the panel theme. It's the previous wasp version as well.
The icons are custom and need to be applied in a odd manner, I need to consult somebody to help me refine the set and get a proper set up for them. I want to make a project out of it to make an actually good icon set for Linux.
The Window Title font is "Just Old Fashion" which can be found at dafont.com, and the rest is Aquabase, and it's quite difficult to find, I can't be of much assistance in finding it.

What theme do you use? I'm new to Ubuntu, like your desktop a lot!

TheGrayson In reply to WinterBaseNL [2010-01-10 23:23:26 +0000 UTC]
Well, for my overall theme, I use Wasp, you can get it off of Gnome Look, and as for the Docky theme, you can get it off of dA, I'm certain it's easy to find

Looks great, nice icons, a correct translucent effect in the panel and a curious wallpaper. Congrats, one of the best unix shots i've seen this week.

how'd you get the 3D stuff on the bottom? the "sitting on the table" effect is pretty slick.

TheGrayson In reply to paradigm-shifting [2010-01-06 05:35:55 +0000 UTC]
That's docky's 3D view, to get it
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:docky-core/ppa
then
sudo apt-get install docky

paradigm-shifting In reply to TheGrayson [2010-01-06 06:23:39 +0000 UTC]
says add-apt-repository is not a recognized command. So i'm like... no problem. I'll go find the *.deb files myself. Did that. Dependencies not satisfiable. I try to apt-get them and it tells me i already have the latest version installed!
Kind of shocking. This is something I'd expect from Microshaft, not Linux.
Yea ole "we can't find what you already have" error. "I have it, but refuse to use it" lol

perhaps it is a commentary piece! One that speaks of the life of man-made vs nature. In this image it is evident that an eightball, a symbol of the future, and a beacon for giving advice to humanity, has deteriorated in the presence of an ever-green nature surounding it. It has failed! Maybe it is telling us that an artificial, manufactured existence cannot compete with the longevity of mother nature. Maybe nature itself has caught up with us and has revealed our own built, fragile "nature" we have relied upon instead.
or maybe it just makes a kick-ass desktop pic!

Excellent find and excellent choose. Lord knows that I have been behind the Eight ball enough in my life.

very very very cool
PS: can u link me that awn/cairodock theme?
it's so similar to the original mac os one....pls?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
TheGrayson In reply to Delere [2010-01-06 00:07:52 +0000 UTC]
It's not Cairo dock or AWN lol, it's Docky 2, it's much better and much more stable.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:docky-core/ppa
then
sudo apt-get install docky
then the themes can be located here
[link]
It also has the zoom/fish eye effect, and you can have multiple docks, it beats the fuck out of Mac OS X's Dock, try it out
