O_O why the schnauzer do you have 4 windows installations? I'd just go full out Ubuntu, VMware I doubt will give you a quality experience.

That's weird, Compiz works fine on every machine I've installed it on, ATI or Nvidia. 8.10 contained big upgrades for drivers and such.
