I agree.I'm not a huge fan of Pokemon either.It's alright but definitely not one of the best video game/Nintendo franchises of all-time IMO.

The games are more about strategy, and in more recent games the story and post-story content. It's supposed to be a journey. And there's a good deal of spin-off games if you want more variety.

Itβs all in the execution. Some games (like PokΓ©mon Conquest) make a twist to the standard formula, and that is what makes them so interesting. The variety and replay factor is what makes these games great.
