Description I've embarked on a noble quest... a blanket with my precious Umbreon

I haven't abandoned this quest. Although it has been a few years since I started *cough* over 4 *cough* I will eventually finish!
I recently added to the blanket, I probably won't add any progress shots until I have some more progress lol.
[Edit was made on March 17th 2015]

Progress shots:

Here's my pattern, drawn on graph paper (6 pieces taped together), which I will follow to create the awesomeness of Umbreon in blanket form.
***REVISED*** I've made the pattern easier to read for anyone who wishes to use it (please credit me if you do use it, I spent a lot of time on it)...by redoing it on the computer

From my estimates, Umbreon alone should be about 65in x 64in... and should take quite a long time. Check out my gallery for my progress!

I'm sorry to bother you, but I've seen this pattern and your progress on your blanket, and I was just wondering how do you do it?! I'm very interested in making my own pokemon blanket, but it looks like the way your doing it is easier then what i have in mind. Could you give me any tips? thanks so much, can't wait to see your progress!

It's no problem... All I do is take each pixel block from the pattern I drew up and make one crocheted square. The crocheted squares are simple ones, just a chain that I single crocheted across and turned a few times. Once I get a decent number of squares done I just sew them together with a yarn needle and the yarn tails already on the squares. This was my very first crochet project that I decided to do as I taught myself how to crochet, so it's a very simple approach (just time consuming, since I'm still working on it).

I think the small sprites for pokemon work really well for a pattern, just increase the size of them so you can see individual pixels. (I drew mine on graph paper after increasing the size of the original pixel drawing-which was done on the computer)

Let me know if you can follow this ...I might make a tutorial on how to make your own blanket like this eventually

well thank you so much! that does make sense, I already figured using sprites would be easy. Thank you so much for the summary, it's really appreciated!

You're very welcome! I wish you luck with making a pattern and a blanket/whatever you decide to make (let me know how it goes, I love seeing other peoples interpretations of the same/similar founding idea(s))

aaw, Thank you so much. i actually have another question >.< sorry! um, well, i have a pattern and i have quite a bit of squares done, the problem is, i'm not sure how to stitch them together so they lay flat. Could you please help?

I lay my squares front side (as in the side you plan on looking at) to front side and stitch along one edge and make a secure knot with the strands of yarn/tails from other squares (or the same square, I just make sure the stitching isn't going to come out)...

Then fold one back over so they are laying beside each other front sides facing up... then I do the same thing with another square, making sure the front sides are together when I stitch one edge... and to keep them laying flat I use an iron on a very low setting (after I have quite a few squares done) to make it lay flatter I hope this helps you out!

^___^ Your welcome. I know what it feels like to have someone just steal your work, and claim it as their own. D:< ITS SO ANGERING.
^3^ And thank you for letting me do it~!
I however, plan to just use the pattern to make a square, because I don't have the patience to make an entire blanket atm. XD
Also, may I suggest, that rather then working the entire blanket in squares, you do it in strips?
It would cut your sewing time in half. : D

It really is! You're welcome ^.^ I know most artists are okay with you using their work for something as long as you credit them and ask first.
It's quite a compliment that someone likes something you've made that much
I totally understand not having the patience to do it, it's quite a tedious adventure lol.
Actually, I thought about doing that, but after making about three strips, it just didn't have the look that I wanted (the whole pixel, old school vibe)...but thank you for the suggestion ^.^ that would definitely save me time!
