On the eve of battle on the Hive World of Raam's Gate, Colonel-Commissar Ulysses von Darrien, commander of the 256th Cadian Infantry Regiment, addresses the troops and conducts his final inspections before the combined battle group of Cadians and Rodinians man the defences in preparation for the enemy to make planetfall.

A throwback to one of my favourite photos I took back during the last few games of 40K before the lockdown. My friend brought out some cool new terrain pieces for that game, especially the pulpit on which the Colonel-Commissar stands. While we were getting our models ready, I decided to quickly arrange a small scene of my army on parade and took this photo, which in turn, helped establish the pre-game narrative of the Imperial Guard defenders being assembled to receive a rousing speech just before the battle commences. I can't quite remember who won that game now but I do remember how great it felt to field a fully painted Loyal 32 for the first time! It's been months since I've last played but here's hoping I can get some games in with friends pretty soon.
