Group News Space Oddity ends in a few days and we don't have many pieces this time. I am guessing that space is not that interesting to most.
I have been redoing some rules for he group and posting some guidelines , I hope you take the time to read them as I plan on going ahead a making this group all it should be. We will also be giving more in depth responses to your art and becoming more active. I hope you appreciate the groups effort to make this a better place to learn and compete.

I found this image to be a masterfully realized fantasy dream with a certain modern flair and feel that in no way robs the piece of its' magic and wonder. Rather, the blending of the modern and the fantastic makes this extra special and the choice of color makes me think of the Oz stories by Frank L. Baum for some reason... probably the rich shades of green. Seeing what appears to be a modern witch, sorceress, or enchantress summoning forth a unicorn is an interesting and unique concept that you do not really see in fantasy art. Many modern takes on lady magic users tend to go for more of a focus on the lady herself but this is very different in that although she is certainly the star of the show, it is the stage upon which she is performing her magic that also is the star, along with of course the mythical creature itself, the interestingly placed unicorn. I say interestingly placed because it almost looks as if it is coming forth from a magical mirror, which adds to the magical element of the scene presented to the viewer. The whole image evokes a powerful vision, so I would have to give Vision full stars since this scene truly is captivating and interesting. Also, it is VERY original, so full stars for Originality too. I am very fond of the technique as well since it is quite flawless in its' presentation. Thus, full stars for that too. Impact-wise, another full star rating since the impact is a powerful one that draws the viewer into the world of the image and into the scene itself, particularly with the sort of three dimensional perspective that is going on here. Which, by the way, I think is realized very well! A 3D perspective is a very hard thing to achieve without making it look too much or too little in the right direction, but this painting does really accomplish this quite nicely. So I daresay this is probably my first critique in which I have given a piece of art full ratings of stars all the way! But this truly earns it, and is well worth a look if one is a fan of this sort of "modern" fantasy, which I very much am. So very well done, on the artist's part! Some other things I liked about this scene are some of the tiny details - the overall glow of the scene that is cast by the unicorn's horn and seemingly reflected on the walls, the richly and realistically detailed floor tiles and of course the walls. All hard work, I can well imagine! The spell book looks cool, and the way the lady is reaching out the touch the unicorn's horn is straight out of classic "The Maiden and the Unicorn" mythical artworks. I've never seen this sort of take on it before, and was quite pleasantly surprised by it! So that is my critique on this "magical" work of art. It is basically, pretty much a flawless work of great originality and tremendous beauty. What's not to love about it? *Smiles*
