Description
One of my modules for my Foundation course was welding, so I decided I wanted to do something slightly different. The idea of using such a solid medium to create something that's usually associated with fabric really appealed to me; I wanted something tough like armour, yet decorative and beautiful. One of the main inspirations was the steampunk style, as is probably obvious. xD

The corset pattern was created by me, as was all of the welding work. Includes steel, copper, coins and ribbon with techniques including punching, oxycetylene, rollers, electric saw, MIG and that other terrifying sparky thing that cuts like BOOM. The whole project helped me to get over my HUGE fear of machinery and heat (in GCSE science I wouldn't even touch the chemical pots or a Bunsen burner), which I think was something a lot more valuable than creating the art itself.

It's not perfect, and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it now, but I like it~
