Description
Okay, so here's my final piece for my Fine Art ALevel. It's about as tall as me (or 3xA1) if that helps.Cold water dye + printing for background.
Acrylic for fish and rock.
Extra bubbles made out of shaped glue.
So yup, that's me finished.
Haha, they look so dopey. =3
(Bad quality photo, will update if I can get a better one!)
Comments etc GREATLY appreciated!

This is stunning. And kudos on the size! A1 is kinda scary to work with in all it's big dauntiness, and you made three of 'em oh so beautiful! The colours are gorgeous and strong. I love your style. Really great work.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I'm really glad you like them - I tried super hard to try and make them as cute as I saw them in my head, if that makes any sense? xD
Thanks again~

Thank you very much!
I used just 3 blank canvases, but it was textured a bit by the sprinkled dye in the background. C:

Hey, you're welcome ! I'm a fellow painter, and I really admire this work coz I know how difficult it is to do freakin three parts stuff, and I lurve the colors and technique

thehoverworm In reply to Lune-de-chocolat [2010-08-12 10:44:39 +0000 UTC]
Three part stuff IS a bitch. Especially when you've made it stupidly tall and have to balance it in place just to paint. xD
SILLY SHAWNEE. *whacks self*

Lune-de-chocolat In reply to thehoverworm [2010-08-17 21:09:42 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I won't do it again either, EVER. But don't be too hard on yourself, every painter make the damn mistake to think it's easy to paint several parts stuff, you can't avoid it. Like trying to complete a pokedex without cheating y'know ? So take it easy, now you know that those things involve disturbing the Force And unless it's for cookies, don't mess with the Force.

Well, i've got time on my hands, so here goes.
The thing i like most about the fishies image is that it really lets you get a feel of depth. The colours, the transparency of the fish's fins and the backround all blend to make a painting that is quite easy to immerse yourself in.
What makes it better is the light and bubbles make it seem more... accessible in a way, as it seems like an environment like this could be close to wherever the viewer lives. (you know, unless its in a country that's not near an ocean, in which case, they're screwed )
Also, no sketch for me please, i just wanted to have something to review. XD

Shawnee. You are just. Amazing. <3
Oh and the pictures kinda good too
I've just had my entire family around my screen looking at that. And to quote my mum "That'd sell for loads, and we'd buy it in a flash" I think they liked it

Srsly though, thank your mum! That's kind of an AMAZING compliment. =3 Thing with this piece though... It's sort of too big to be a casual piece of art around the house. My Mum is struggling to find a place that doesn't let it take over the room, haha. xD

thehoverworm In reply to kolibri7 [2010-05-24 20:14:42 +0000 UTC]
Haha, thank you! xD 11 hours is a pretty long time when you're actually doing it, timed, so I guess you kind of work out where you're meant to be by that hour and push yourself.
It's still great to have loads of time though - you can really nail the details that way. The iguana and cat you drew/painted look like they tooks dayyssss~ JEALOUS. D:

Yes, but your painting is so big.
I have realized that if I draw some hours one day, some hours another day and some hours also a third day, then have I used quite many hours all in all. IΒ΄m not so fast to draw, so yes, it takes usually three or four days to finish my pictures, even if they are 21x29,7cm or 24x32cm...

In my experience it's sometimes the smaller pieces that take longer. THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL, but it's how it is. Hooray for art making no sense!
Anyway, I figure as long as it's worth it in the end, time is kind of irrelevant. =3
