I found Evangelion 2.0 to be a very disappointing film. It almost put me off the new films entirely.. but Iβm still a big fan of NGE and EOE.So this will probably be the only thing I do from rebuild. It will definitely be the only drawing I do from 2.0.
I like the actual design of the beast mode. It kind of reminds me of the god warrior from NausicaΓ€ of the valley of the wind.

I actually read somewhere that Rebuild actually takes place after End of Evangelion. I can't really support it or explain it but two things that tie Rebuild with EOE. First in 1.0 there is a outline of a giant that looks like the MP EVA at the end of EOE. Second and my fav, at the end of 1.0 when Kaworu wakes up on the moon from the casket you can see a red streak next to him, now the only thing that caused a red streak on the moon was when blood came spewing out from Lilith's neck from EOE. So I think Rebuild is a time loop or it does take place after EOE who knows.

Remembering that at the end of EOE the ocean turned red. At the beginning of Rebuild 1.0 the water was already red.

I'm half agree with you, the only thing I REALLY liked about Rebuild movies is... exactly, High Definition

i think the rebuild of eva is really nice. i like how it's in more high definition (unit 01 loks especially cool now in the dark), but I just think the original eva series was more detailed

I get what you mean Rebuild of Eva lacked the symbolism and philosophy part that made the series so unique with it the movie could have been perfect.True stuff.

Lots of things in it bother me.. It would be hard to summarise and donβt really want to get into it here.. I guess I may write a proper review one day.
This is just my opinion though. I really donβt mean to be rude to anyone who did like the film.
Hopefully the next film will change the way I feel about the NME.

Hey its been a while.
No not really. 3.0 was a confused mess of a movie. It wasn't as embarrassing as 2.0 though. These versions of the characters are so shallow its pathetic. Shinji has been made into an idiotic parody of a shonen action hero. Asuka's role is now literally reduced to filling an empty seat. The other characters are now interchangeable cardboard cut-outs.. ect.

Well.. I guess ill force myself to watch Final.
At this point i don't expect more than a bunch of ridiculously overblown battle scenes, and cringe-inducing theatrics like pilots with glowing eyes and battleships flying around.
Whimpy shinji from NGE / EOE was a lot more interesting and sympathetic for me. In part because he was more of a victim of circumstance rather than the NME equivalent who is just an idiot who's randomly enabled by the plot to do nonsensical stuff.
