Description
Yes. Another Ganondorf pic. But to be fair I don't think ol' Ganny gets enough love. He is by far one of the best villains in any media out there. He doesn't say much but when he does its precise and to the point. I always viewed him as a tortured soul who was only content conveying that to the thankless people of Hyrule through a horrible suffering. If you think about it, the poor keepers of the Triforce got a raw deal in life. They are forever cursed to relive the same horrors for eternity because of a mistake the gods made."When the chosen ones appear...
They are always born into this world in perfect balance.
That is the destiny of the chosen. That is the fate decreed by your gods, the only path for those who bear their crests.
When this world brings forth another marked as you are...
Know too, that it shall also be visited by one of my blood.
Do not think this ends here...
The history of light and shadow will be written in blood!"
If anyone has something to complain about its Ganondorf. Link and Zelda get to live in the flourishing kingdom of Hyrule. In every life Link is raised by loving family members or villagers. In every life Zelda is a privileged princess who does not want for anything. And in every life Ganondorf is "King" of a desolate land. There is no abundance of food, water, or shelter. In fact they are forced to build their homes into rocks, a constant reminder that they are the dirt of the earth. To be the keeper of "Power" itself and have absolutely nothing to rule over as king. What does that title even mean then? Imagine walking the terrain of your kingdom, picking up a handful or sand and having it blow away on the wind. THAT is the whole of your kingdom. As powerful as sand against the wind. Is it any wonder he is so bitter towards Hyrule?
"My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose."
At times it seems that Ganondorf doesn't always start out evil. Its more of a sadness that somehow along the lines gets twisted into an ultimate, unrelenting hatred. He may want his people to have better and at first sets out to achieve this goal. Maybe he even thinks of being a good ruler. In ancient times this played out again and again when a ruler felt like they wanted better for their country they set out to get it and when they conquered another, the left over people either were forced to live with their new king or they became slaves. Ganon may have had this goal in mind and after so many years of turning this over in his mind it became his only focus. Soon it wasn't about his people but about himself and what he deserved for all his efforts. In several interviews the creators have said that Ganon is supposed to be the embodiment of evil. Maybe unintentionally, I feel with several of the games that feature him, Ganon grows/ develops into this ultimate evil. Or rather the player develops a greater sense of who Ganon really is as the story progresses. Many times the player does not even realize that he is behind everything. That's what makes Ganondorf such a great villain. He does not go head first into a confrontation. Instead he employs mentally and emotionally unstable beings by playing on those weaknesses, making promises that will never be truly fulfilled. He is a master manipulator, hoping to make our hero exhausted by the time he finally reaches him. This kind of cunning and resourcefulness, with a pinch of humanization is what makes Ganondorf my all time favorite villain. It even tugs on my heart strings every time I have to defeat him. He'll always get me with a few last words.
"The wind... it is... blowing..."
A FEW KEY NOTES
I really wanted to make him look very self entitled and menacing. He's more of a younger Ganondorf. One that finally showed his true colors and gave that look like "try and challenge me." Here he seems like he's enjoying just watching some village burn. As you can see he's wearing his classic Pig Ganon cape! It's more of a tribal look than a imposing king look that you see in TP, but that's cuz he's just starting out.
The tattoo on his chest is actually part of the Gerudo language. I don't know who "deciphered" it but I think it was someone from DA. If you know who it is please tell me. I'd like to give them credit. If you are curious to what it says it's supposed to be, "Rise and Rise Again" although you cannot see the entirety of the text here since its covered by his cape.

Haha, I don't know which I find more intriguing, your picture or your comments!
I think the part that hammered me the most was your saying that he's most likely just watching some village burn---I had to scroll back up at that.... and I could totally see the cold malice in his eyes.
It's always nice seeing glimpses of Ganondorf that we don't always get to see.
*just looks some more....*
Gads the look on his face.... the fireglow and embers....
This is just fantastic.

Thank you! I love the feedback. I'm actually surprised you read all of it. I know a lot of people just skip large texts but for those that do read them, like you said, get the opportunity to perhaps get a glimpse at a side of something that they didn't see before. Glad you liked it.

Haha, well it's nice when the big blocks of text are so well written. Sometimes you just get big bunches of poorly-constructed mish-mash with should ofs and your welcomes to boot.... then it's just painful. q:
But yours was quite well thought out and delightful to read! I love your take on Ganon's development. It makes me wonder what those goddesses are on about in their decisions....

I especially loved Windwaker Ganondorf. Underneath it all, he was a tired, exhausted old man who was jealous of the world's wind and greenery. When that chance slipped away, his confidence broke and he was reduced to taking it out on Link.

This is actually how I've always viewed Ganondorf. It's his understanding for the beauty and peacefulness of Hyrule that eventually drives him to save it at the end of my Zelda fanfic.
