Description I was reading some article online about how yet again some interviewer asked Alan Moore about the Watchmen movie, and this time Alan went so far as to say he'd "spit venom" or somesuch in the movie's general direction.

I feel bad for the whole situation in creator's rights, but at this point Alan Moore saying he won't support a film based on his work is OLD NEWS. Stop asking him, moron interviewers!

So I drew this.

Enjoy.

It's a touchy situation, all in all I'd be flattered and excited to see my creations in a new light. It's going a bit too far.

But besides all that, you did a great job on this.

I remember him being like that about V for Vendetta. I've read about other authors who feel the same way about their written work being turned into film. While I can't say I have personal insight into the minds of these people, I get the sense that its irritating to them that people will discover their original work by another medium they had no hand in creating; in other words, someone else's work will overshadow their own creation.

To a degree, certainly. More, though-- it's seeing something you created strip-mined and turned into a fast-food quality product. I understand his concerns, but the bile? Not my thing.

I figure he's just very very touchy about when other people touch his creations.

And yet he takes others' creations (like those in the public domain) and strip those of everything that made them their creators as well. It's a pot/kettle thing.

Sounds a little like Karma, too.
Then again, you're bound to get touched in the head if you grow a beard just to hide your stash of "Little Lulu" comics.

Stupid interviewers.... its like beating a dead horse. He will NEVER get involved in the movie department.

It's not looking like it, is it? Oh well.

The problem is, if he really wanted to put a stop to it he should become more involved like frank miller... but again he's a scary mountain man... who writes good books.

I suppose-- or at the least just agree to disagree with the quality of the product.

yeah, i checked that out too.
I get it- the guy doesn't respect any other medium, but it still just comes off like he's an angry nerd ass to anyone who doesn't know his work (and even some who do).

Sorry, i think you can like someone's work and not really like them as a person, but it does seem like you've gotta work alot harder at being a jerk.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I understand his concerns, but at some point I'd like to think a person should just shrug it off and let bygones be bygones.
