Clara Zetkin? I've got an old Banknote with her on it from the DDR a.k.a East Germany, they put her on the front of the 5 Mark banknote, although the picture they used makes her look like someone's Grandma

I can easily post a picture of it in my banknote folder

I am going to do another painting with her, but I have not decided whether to highlight her individually or within a group.  Plus if I remember right she was more of an anarchist.

I remember coming across her writing because we had to do independent study on feminism's influence on jurisprudence during our last term.  Her essay about her disillusionment with Russia after the Bolshevik revolution was interesting.

You might also think of reading Olympe De Gouges* ~ a French enlightenment era woman philosopher who wrote  "Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen", she also wrote a book called "Réflexions sur les hommes nègres" so she was also one of the early campaigners for the abolition of slavery.

*weirdly she's been forgotten despite how ahead of her time she was

It is a shame that she has been forgotten, especially since not only was she progressive, but she was an American nonetheless where even the rights of black and Irishmen were not ever remotely considered.  Plus you have given me some reading to do as I am going to look for some of her writings and read them for myself.

We were encouraged to read a book about philosophy in jurisprudence term called "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder, it mentions De Gouges and I remember a scene in the book about Goldman.  I found it interesting since it explained the ideas of these people without drowning the reader in jargon or turgid writing.
