Description
(EDIT:The glicth that was only showing the first 3 second should be solved now)Well, here it is!
My very first 3D Sonic animation ( or any animation).
No, Doom Island dosent count. Forget about it.
Have you heard of the Sonic X reanimate project? No? Well, until recently, neither did I.
It a group of people who want to reanimate the entire episode 5 of Sonic X ( why episode 5, I'm not sure).
And that gave me an idea. You see, animating is quite different from modeling. I am lacking in experience, so I need some field work here.
And then I thought, why not do the same?So I decided to reanimate a scene from the episode. It is the dialogue scene just before the big battle between Knuckles and Sonic.
Yes, yes, I will eventually do the whole battle scene as well, but I only had two days to do this (or to be more precise, 14 hours, which isn't all that much). It WAS a good exercise, I learned a lot from it!
And yes, before you say it, yes it is still full of glitches. It is training for me. The mistakes I do here, I will learn how to avoid later.
The animation is a bit choppy isn't it?I followed as close as I could the original movements, but that wasn't always possible.
I swear i once saw something on how to create snow-tipped mountains, where WAS that tutorial?!Urg, I can't remember!
You may have notice something weird about the mouths. The truth is, I didn't bother with lip-sync until shot number 3( Sonic first close up), I just gave random mouth positions. Now I know better than to do that.
Show I get rid of the eyebrow shade for Knuckles? It HAS proven to be a pain.
And yes, there is no sound. I haven't figured out how to add it properly yet.
And for those who wonder, the reason the resolution is so low is because I had to convert the WHOLE thing to a shockwave Flash format, the only thing DA would accept, hence the low resolution. If I had converted it to a gif, the file size would be so heavy that deviantart would send hitmans after me.
So yeah, bummer.
Oh yeah, before I forget. The original material belong to SEGA.
But the model are mine.
At any rate, watch enjoy and comment.Β
I REALLY need a break after that.

Hehe! Thanks.
Next I will be doing a full episode!
Oh, BTW, I am actually posting another model in the next few seconds, if you are interested.

Uh?Blender?
I mean, my model are made in blender, how else am I gonna use them?
That being said, I DID combine the various camera shots with a program called OpenToonz. But apart from that it is blender.
Is...is that a problem?

This means a lot to me.Really.
It wasn't easy to do, especially Knuckles, it had the WEIRDEST glitch EVER ( groups vanishing for no reasons after rendering)
Oh by the way, since you use texture FAR more than I do, do you know of any way to change the texture reference file in a keyframed manner?
Because that would simplify the mouth animation. When Sonic look surpised, I have to swtich from the ''seriousΒ mouth'' to the ''happy mouth'' texture, meaning I have to do 2 separate rendering. Could I automate this?

with uv warp modifier for changing uvs like a lego face for example
u can also make it into an image sequence too

Well, technically it already IS an image sequence. 3 images; close, mid, full.
I never really use UV, but I will have a look.
What I would like thougt, is changing the file pathname dynamically. There's got to be a way.

Because scripting is out of the question for me.

I can't take credit for that.
I just reanimated an existing scene from episode 5 using my models.
It was meant as an animation training, and an existing scene is the perfect storyboard.
