Here, I've decided to post a small chart on which forms Sonic has in my headcanon, which differs slightly from the original canon. I have a lot to talk about, so let's get into it, shall we?

Sonic: Nothing much here, just the same power we all know and love.

Sonic (Surge Mode): Surge Mode is activated when the user taps into their instinctive power. It increases a character's attributes and, in the case of Sonic, greatly enhances his speed.

Darkspine Sonic: Darkspine Sonic is a form used by Sonic to combat Alf Layla Wa-Layla in Sonic and the Secret Rings. After his adventure with the Genie Shahra in the Arabian Kingdom and collecting the seven World Rings, they came face-to-face with the villainous Erazor Djinn. After witnessing Shahra be killed at the hands of the villainous Genie, Sonic goes all Namek Saga Super Saiyan Goku and absorbs the World Rings of sadness (his sadness at Shahra's death), rage (his rage at seeing someone he cared for suffer), and hatred (his hatred for Erazor Djinn). With this power, Sonic is more than a match for Alf Layla Wa-Layla.

Excalibur Sonic: With the Four Sacred Treasures at his disposal, Sonic transforms into the godly Excalibur Sonic to combat Merlina the Dark Queen, as a reward for reaching the final battle in his adventure in the Medieval Kingdom.

Super Sonic: In this headcanon, Super Forms work far differently. They still grant the ability of flight and near invincibility and run off of rings, but they require two things: A connection with the Chaos Emeralds and a certain amount of ring energy. Upon first returning from the last Special Stage in Sonic 2, Sonic accidentally tapped into the fullest potential of the Chaos Emeralds and faced off with the Death Egg Robot. A connection is possible to form, but it's hard to maintain and even harder to achieve. Also, it still requires at least 50 rings to transform and if the user's Ring Energy depletes completely, they revert to normal. . Unlike the games, they drain at least one every 2.5 seconds.

Super Sonic (Surge Mode): Super Sonic combined with Surge Mode, obviously, increases his speed. Surge Mode decreases an additional ring every 2 seconds.

Super Sonic 2: This isn't really anything except something I threw in for fun, along with Super Sonic 3. A step above Super Forms. It drains a ring every 1.5 seconds.

Super Sonic 2 (Surge Mode): Nothing much to explain.

Super Sonic 3: Stage 3 of Super Sonic increases his spines as well as getting rid of his eyebrows. But it also comes with an extreme power drainage of 0.5 seconds. Sonic has to learn to use this power sparingly lest he be overwhelmed.

Super Sonic 3 (Surge Mode): Nothing much to explain again.

Werehog: When the moon comes up, the side effects of Dark Gaia's premature awakening curse Sonic to become a creature howling at the moon... What he lacks in speed and agility he makes up for in brute strength and elastic arms.

Dark Sonic: An "Evil" version of Super Sonic, although Dark Sonic couldn't technically be considered "Evil," but more malicious than Sonic's normal upbeat personality. Dark Sonic was created by the Dark Chaos Emerald's negative energy radiating into his body. He might even be stronger than Super Sonic...?

God Sonic: Once the Dark Gaia had been defeated, a bit of his influence still remains. To combat this, Tikal and Chaos transport Sonic and Knuckles to a dimension within the Master Emerald where they had to rigorously control their Chaos Energy. In this dimension, Sonic and Knuckles trained with Tikal and Chaos for three months, and the result of this training, A new form known as Super Sonic God. It has all the same abilities as Super Sonic, but the user has a more tame and calm personality. (And yes, this is a direct reference/recreation of Super Saiyan God from Dragon Ball Super.)

God Sonic Ascended: Super Sonic God combined with the Chaos Emeralds created an ascended form known as Super Sonic God Ascended (Or nicknamed: Super Sonic Blue). It is essentially the same as Super Sonic but way stronger. It also runs off of Rings and if the user's Ring Energy depletes completely, they revert to normal. (And yes, this is a direct reference/recreation of Super Saiyan Blue from Dragon Ball Super.)

Fire Sonic: During Super Mario Bros Z Episode 8: The Great Doomship Offensive, Sonic obtains one of Super Mario's most iconic powerups: The Fire Flower. This gives him the ability to leave a trail of fire and create and control fire, similar to Blaze. It was so cool that I HAD to recreate it and add it here.

Hyper Sonic: In this headcanon, a ritual (Like the one seen in Sonic 3 & Knuckles) is required to turn the Chaos Emeralds into the Super Emeralds. It is an incredibly tedious process as one misstep could potentially make the Master Emerald lose power permanently. Hyper Sonic is born from the Super Emeralds. He is nearly invincible and can even move so fast he's seen as a streak of rainbow light. Hyper Sonic is, and remains Sonic's most powerful transformations in his arsenal.

Super Hyper Sonic: Lastly, we have Super Hyper Sonic. (Or you might call it True Hyper Sonic or Hyper Sonic Full Power.) His aura is more pronounced and visible and he can move faster than Hyper Sonic.
