I just recently read Dragon Rider again instead of reading To Kill a Mockingbird for school >_<Anyways, it was like 2 am and I was like 'Hey great time to draw a fanart while I'm half asleep :3' PFFFF.
I learned three things: 1) I can't draw furry things 2)more than 2 arms 3) AIRPLANES especially mini ones >_<;;; And now I'm too lazy too lazy to edit all the mistakes.
Hahaha sorry if Burr-Chan looks like a rapist; I didn't know what to do with his 4 arms afghefjhaf and Sorrel is all like 'I am not amused' pfff she's never happy EVER >:C
harharhar look at the map Ben is holding: it's the only thing that doesn't fail xD

Wow, this is fantastic, we do NOT get enough Dragon Rider fanart on this site, I think that's sad since the book was what sorta inspired my creativity, even though I was reading it when I was eighteen LOL. Anyways you're fantastic artist, I love the way you depict the characters here, it literally looks like an extension of Cornelia Funk's illustrations she had in her book but with a different style. For the record I think you drew the plane wonderfully and you handled the four armed guy really well, i've seen were that can epically fail.
The attention to detail is unnatural for a guy's who draws half asleep, the fur on the brownies and wonderfully done as well as the hair on Ben and Twigleg is my favorite, he has almost no detail but the impression he gives off is just so solid you don't need it. Also, this is only because you said it by the way, the expressions ARE a little bit jacked up. The four armed dude (no i'm not gonna look up what his real name is its too ridiculously long) looks like he's pointing to Ben going "dude this guys grows the best shrooms ever, I'm so jacked up right now..."
If that's the case than Sorrel looks like she's one of their most recent customers. Look at her face she looks high off her ass in this. No honestly though its not because you did it bad, its just you didn't really put the necessary detail that would engrave a solid expression so its really up for grabs on whatever the mind could come up with. personally I like to think she's latching on to Ben to keep her equilibrium while on a seriously bad trip going "Why did that tree just turn into a rober ducky?" LOL. I'm joking of course, its a really good piece.

I love how you drew Burr-Chan, and don't worry he doesn't come off as a rapist. I also love their expressions particularly Sorrel's "not amused" look. Twigleg is pure win. <3
You even added Gilbert's high flying niece! It's to bad she came in so late in the story she's such a fun character.

Twigleg's hair was fun to draw~ Yeah, the rat was pretty awesome; I love it how she was so minor but did so much. Ah, such a great book! (And thanks so much for the fave! Have a llama!)

Furry creatures are awful hard to pull off. Trust me you did an excellent job, especially for someone who's never done it before. And you placed the arms so perfectly I'd think you'd been drawing four armed people for years!
Heh Sorrel. I think the only time she's happy is when she has a particularly delicious mushroom to nibble.
I have trouble drawing hair that stands up like that in my style. I tend to draw Twigleg with bangs that stick out over his face. *fails*

Yeah, I tend to draw him up close more often than not so I can't skip on the details as much.

I'm surprised that she's not fat; Sorrel's always eating xD I had no idea how to draw Twigleg from the front; his nose is too big ._.
And yes, she did illustrate it. The little pen pictures right at the beginning of chapters are drawn by her (and the other pics in the book, not the cover though I don't think.)
The only problem is that I know 3rd grade German and this is like a 5th grade book... Ah well; at least I understand like a third of it!

It's probably pretty hard to get fat on mushrooms, roots, and the other tidbits brownies eat.
I really need to pay more attention to these things. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the cover was done by someone else. The style is to different.

German is actually pretty simple. It just always follows rules and there are practically absolutely no exceptions. And it's written how it's pronounced ;D In just a year I learned all the grammar and stuff. Now it's just vocab...

I love the way she likes to describe Twigleg (eating flies, spidery legs) hinting he was probably made from a spider instead of a woodlouse.
She is, it's to bad her books aren't more well known.

I know! I hope she writes a sequel to Dragon Rider; it really would be fun to read about more of their adventures. More mushrooms and foreign languages ;D

My copy contains a letter from her explaining that this book was written because a TV producer read her first story (also about a Dragon) and wanted her to expand it so they could make a cartoon. Instead of developing over the old story she wrote a whole new one, her first long book, but by the time she was done she realized she didn't want it to be a cartoon. Now it's the full length adventure story we know and love.

A movie might actually be pretty neat. As long as It wasn't killed like Eragon was. I shudder to think of them makeing a kiddy cartoon out of it. Maybe if it was geared more to teens it would be an ok cartoon. Like Ben 10 or something.

Yeah, Eragon was just too long of a book to make a movie of. They just abridged it too much :/ But the animation was really good, I'll give it that!
Dragon Rider the Movie would be great, if they got the characters right. I mean, perfect. If not, then it just wouldn't be right...

Who do you think would be able to play the parts of the Dragon Rider characters? I always heard Brendan Fraser's voice when reading Firedrake. Of course, owning the audio book doesn't really help that.
