Just finished the game, Bioshock is officially one of my favorite universes of all time thanks to Infinite.

I don't even know where to start with you. Β Bioshock is a concept as much as it is a game. Β You know that it was the spiritual successor to System Shock 2? Β So, the game you love is really the same thing to that game, that Infinite is to it. Β It's an idea, not a singular game. Β Don't be surprised if in a few years they put out "BIOSHOCK X" and it's set in the 80s or something. Β Bioshock has a certain feel. Β It's not just a shooter. Β It's a way of telling a story. Β It's weapons and magic and dystopia and humanity. Β It's dealing with, or focusing on a real issue, a real subject matter and exploring it with metaphor and allegory. Β It's about piquing your most base emotions, like fear and anger while stimulating your higher intelligence with logical villains and social puzzles. Β Choice is important but I would say not the most crucial part of the games. Β I don't get your outrage.. it's silly.
As for this piece.. oh my god it is amazing. Β I would love it to be a featured alternate cover from the studio itself. Β They should buy the design from you! Great job!

um. i dont understand. rapture and columbia are the settings and bioshock is the series. the gameplay is pretty consistant aaannnd if you understood the ending i linked rapture and columbia together. So wtf are you bitching about?

What Im bitching about is this: Rapture MADE Bioshock. Without is, it would just be another creepy shooter. The opening scene with the first BI trailer (where the guy lands on the roses) is pretty much an insult. They maded you think it was about Rapture, but then it all came crashing down. Consistant!? I heard it was only average!! You can only have two guns with you!! Only two!!! Plus, its the most racist gam I've ever seen!!! Thats what Im bitching about!!

It's racist because of the setting. It's like you expect people from an age where the colored men are still hated to be singing and getting drunk with negroes and irishes, or something like that.
Bioshock was never about rapture. Bioshock 2 just gave you the expectation that it should be about rapture. But it's not. Rapture was only an example of what Irrational Games was intending the Bioshock series to be, I don't know how to exactly word it, but you're dismissing the game as a insult just because it takes place in a different city? Look, if you want to be all technical, I can even say to you that Irrational worked on Bioshock Infinite when they finished the first Bioshock, it was another studio that took the mantle with Bioshock 2, so if don't count that into the equation (and simply think of it as a spinoff), it's the classic final fantasy tactic.Not the game, but all stories are closed off within their own rights, with little to no connection at all with their other brethren that shared its name.
Rapture's halls has been scouted, every nook and cranny inspected,its story ended, and now, it's Columbia's turn to tell its tale.
You should try it.

You haven't even played the thing yet. Bioshock is essentially high philosophical concepts set in impossible places, Biock 1 had Ayn Rand and Rapture, Infinite has American Nationalism and Columbia. There, that wasn't so hard.

Bioshock 2 wasn't exactly well received. It also sold short of what they expected. It was alright imo. It just didn't have that magic I felt from the first part. I'm actually glad they're taking Bioshock out of the Rapture we know. If they kept it there the WHOLE time, it'd get stale really fast. From what Infinite has shown so far, I think it has the ability to be just as good or even better than the first Bioshock. Of course, this is all speculation because the game isn't even out yet. It could be a horrible game, or it could one of the best games ever. Only time will tell when it's released. So until then, I won't judge. Neither should you.

Those were all terrible ideas. Β The kind of ideas that turn a great, artistic and influential game into a shitty series of miscraps.. like Call of Duty. Β Bioshock 2 was not made by the same people as 1 and Infinite. Β Same studio, but not the same creative. Β 2 isn't bad, but it's also not particularly great. Β It's a step in the wrong direction, and Infinite helps to reverse that not-quite-egregious error.

Yeah, I've heard about that. I love it, but I cant imagine why people would hate it. Plus, I've played the secound game first, so I like it a little bit more then the first game. And I agree about it going stale. But Im not saying they should go 'Capcom' on us and send out another Bioshock game/sequel/DLC/prequel every other 5 weeks or so, but I loved what they did with the first 2 games. Why change it?

The whole "don't change what's not broken" doesn't apply for every game. Bioshock's story in Rapture is done, there is nothing else to go on. To keep going back would just mean the demise of the whole franchise. It only makes sense that they take the story away from there. Ken definitely realized this and that's why he decided to change it. To keep the series fresh and to keep people interested. To keep Bioshock alive. It must be working since Infinite is the highest anticipated game right now, even overtaking games like GTA V. Through many sources, Bioshock Infinite is #1 on "most anticipated games" lists. And yes, it's fun to judge games. That part is truly unstoppable. But to judge a game you haven't played, let alone, one that hasn't even been released, is just wrong.

Ever hear of a prequel? Or how about a big sister steals Jack's granddaughters and has to back to Rapture and save them? Or how about playing as a big sister and helping Tenembaum (I know I spelled that wrong > <) save little sisters? Or playing as a sailor who had his ship sink and found Rapture the same way Jack did and is made into a big daddy? If they just though about it, instead of leaving it in the dust, they could have come up with something.
And as for it being anticipated, I really dont know why. Can you tell me why everyone who is a boishock fan be so hyped about this game, even though they know its not like the last two games?
