It's just a spandex bumpmap texture from Heromorph and special chrome material settings in Carrara. Not as special as it looks, but it looks good anyway.

the whole pic looks very conceptual. definitely when the shading effect in the back from the astronaut in the front.

Really nice job! I especially like the way you did the suits! The illusion of depth to the scene also sets it apart from a few recent examples of rendered environments I've seen elsewhere.
