Description Not that a rainy day is ever a dilemma, but when running out of activities to do in the rain... toasting is always an option. My lovely little toaster...

I love this, the concept is so quirky.
Your tones and colours work beautifully here too, the yellow flip flops are such a lovely touch.
I'm going to have to this

Really interesting concept. The toaster makes me a little uneasy. I think that is the effect you were going for though correct? Very Alfred Hitchcockish.

You should ask my toaster for sexual favors before you try it with me, haha. But wait, that's right, it's the toaster you want... I don't make any sense. Thanks, yo... love your macros.

At first, I thought this was some sort of piece representing suicide...
Like the toaster in the tub... but instead of a tub, it's a chair.

That's interesting... that was the first thing to come out of one of my friend's mouths when I showed her. I had no intention of portraying it that way, but hey, that makes it all the more interesting. Thanks for the comment.

Not too late at all! In fact I remember seeing this on the watch list last night a sometime before my batteries died and the laptop abruptly shut off * sigh *

I like this a lot - it really does have the rainy day feel, especially with the slightly muted colours and wonderful array of grays and greens, how your dress blends with the background is really seamless. When I first looked at it, I thought that maybe it was a film photograph - for me it's kind of reminiscent of carefully cooked slide film. I would've continued to believe so if not for the EXIF into indicating otherwise and if not for the noise - that's one thing that irks me a little, that film has grain and digital has noise, at least in some ways, for instance the pattern on the inside part of your legs and on the darker areas of your arm. Out of curiosity, what ISO speed did you set?

It's nicely exposed - it's almost as if it fades in from the left and fades out towards the right, the left probably being the direction the light was coming from; natural I assume. Wonder how you could've done with a bounced flash from the front or from the side perhaps. Once again, I like this

Thank you so very much! I'm glad you could put it up on the d70ers site. Anyway, I believe the ISO was at 400. I'm not sure, though, as I've been toggling between auto and having it around there for my indoor shots. And yes, it was natural lighting... I muted the stronger light from my window with a sheet.

I'm actually just beginning to learn my d70... I'm finding Thom Hogan's ebook extremely thorough. I've never had experience with a manual film camera, so everything is so new. But I'm having fun am learning so much. Thank you again for your help, I appreciate it immensely!

More then glad to, it's a pleasure. Thank you for your reply! This is so different from your ID ( just saw it ) , perspective can say so much. I think the triptych that you did...maybe you should've stayed on the chair shot two more photographs where the toaster is replaced by something else, could've been an interesting way to convey a rainy day. Just a suggestion. Do you know what kind of metering you were using for this particular scene? Also, is NR on or off?

I heart that Tom's book helps volumes but never did get it myself, I want to but money always seems to be heading in some other direction. When I first got my D70, I had a fair amount of experience in photography and I thought the learning curve was steep going from my other camera, so I can only imagine how tough it must be if you've had no past history at all. You're doing great! I hope more stuff from you - it's quality work!
