A very sharp pair of Impalas. This one has the "327" engine badge. Notice that 'kinky' radio antenna! The only thing I would quibble about would be the wheels that appear incongruent with that classic Impala body style. The wheels on the black Impala are much better and similar to those often seen back in the '60s. But that's just my opinion and doesn't take away from the fact that this is a sharp car, well cared for by the owner. I love the '62-'63-'64 Impalas and this one (and the black '64 next to it) are great examples. Both also have the appropriate fuzzy dice, which were very much in style back then. I had them in my car, and I have a pair of fuzzy dice hanging from an upper shelf of my computer desk - I'm still driving with fuzzy dice!

The wheels remind me of the 94-96 Impala SS-only stock...but I agree that they detract from the overall aesthetic of this particular car. On an itty-bitty detail I noticed; the stock, amber turn signal/parking light lenses on this '63 look perfect with the bright red paint. On my car, being almost black, they looked TERRIBLE...and it took me a month to dig up clear, replacement lenses that I put amber-colored bulbs behind.
I've always liked the relatively clean look of the "tri-6" chevies, and I've occasionally played around with thinking about custom grille treatments that hide the parking light lenses inside the main grille.

Wheels do look like the ones on the 94-96 Impala SS. An incredibly ugly car that was transformed into a good looking car with just a few simple changes by the SS treatment. And the wheels looked good on that body style.
The last Impala/Caprice that I liked was my 1984 4 door sedan in a dark wine red color. I special ordered it with delete vinyl roof, the F41 Sport Suspension, and the 5.0 liter V8. The sales manager demanded a larger deposit from me because he said it was an "odd" option selection and he wouldn't be able to sell the car if I didn't buy it. What a dumbass. When the car came in, several people saw it and tried to buy it ahead of me and the local Chevy zone office tried to appropriate it because the zone manager saw it on the special order list and wanted it for himself. I had a 1980 with the same setup. It was a great family cruiser, lots of room, handled decently with good power. Not a sports car but for a family car it was perfect.

My folks had a dark cherry '96 SS. Definitely under-rated for power from the factory, and with the addition of some REALLY big sway bars, it handled like a sports car too. I surprised a BMW 850i in that car on a little road trip we had up in NorCal. Imagine his surprise when I passed him, on the outside, on a curvy road, at full song...and the car wasn't even working very hard.
I know the color you're talking about on your '84, and it's beautiful. A friend of mine had an '87 Impala with the suspension you spec'd, and it was a great car (he'd put an LT1 in it to replace the worn-out 305). I had a 4-bbl Rochester on the 305 (yours may have been fuel injected?) in my '82 TransAm, and that engine never left me wanting for more power.

I agree about the wheels. I don't like the bent antenna either but the car as a whole is great. Fuzzy Dice Rule!
