I'm slightly offended by this. However, I'm also enthralled by the detail and my first reaction was laughter, then followed by "oh my is that sacreligious." All said and done, that's one damn fine painting.

love the concept of this, its got humour and conflict that just works really well. Think the Christian church would find it blasphemous but hey its a great piece of art at the end of day.
I would love to see you do more of these, taking famous paintings and reworking them I really think its an original idea and also a comercial and contemporary one.

I dont think I will be doing more in this line, at least in the near future. Although this is the picture that more praise received here in Deviant and in general, it is just one idea.
I have seen artists doing things such as the one you describe, for example variations of all the famous paintings featuring as main characters Barbie dolls and playmobiles instead of the original figures. I came across a book that included probably 50 illustrations like these, and I must say that after seeing 2 or 3 works, the novelty had disappeared... It is just the same joke over and over. I wouldnt be comfortable doing this even if that would make me more succesful.

How whimsical. Everybody should be able to laugh at themselves. I mean if George bush sr. Can but Jesus can't then what does that say about him?
Anyways. Great painting. One interesting thing I noticed is the mix match of fish tails and feet under the table. Gumby has a fish tale and so does the man with a very small head...Unless there is a fish looking under his robes...Which is strange that there would be a tail if his legs were crossed.
