I have ran into an issue, it now only lets me send a llama every 2 days or so

That is odd. The only thing I know of that slows down llama giving is the spam filter which catches you at around 45 llamas given and stops you for about 2 hours. 
If you're commenting on the people available to give a lama badge to in exchange for points then yeah, it can be slow at times. Search for llama badge groups or go to the forums. You'll probably find the same deal out there.
