Description Around dawn, after a long rain. I wish I could show the way the fog actually looked, photographs are so often a distant second to their subjects.
So I tried to get close, and put a few of my own touches on to make up for what missing. Of course, you won't smell the rain, feel the mist, or hear the birds, twitering timidly after the rain.

But I do like the way my part worked out. I elected not to match anything up quite right, as I had initially intended, and instead let the double images follow the flow of the river. The transparent layers look cool, and it has that collage look.

I also learned a lot of GIMP2 tools doing this. (If you don't know, GIMP is like photoshop, but free, open-source, more info [link] ) ) The quickmask is awesome with alpha gradients, I could have made this collage seemless without too much trouble.

This version is squared off, no transparency left. Both versions are roughly a good size for a desktop, if you stretch them, this one would look better unless your background is white anyways.

Oh, and resolution sticklers- this is small. You should see the 45.2 meg .xcf I exported it from.
