Thanks. We love Asilomar. It's actually really good value for leisure guests at $130 night including breakfast. I need my wife to get involved in some conferences down there...then, she can go off to her conference...and I can go off with my camera!

That's pretty much the plan for us - while she's listening to talks I do photography. Mostly surfers, wildlife, and macro stuff. I'm really not much of a landscape guy. The food's not bad, and they have WiFi in the reception area now so it doesn't interrupt my business stuff other than delaying some shipments a couple of days.
Plus they have a bunch of Julia Morgan buildings which is cool.

We had big plans to take the audio tour they now have...but got sidetracked by the acquarium and Big Sur...
Funny about the WiFi...there was some dude sitting there looking out at the lovely landscape...and playing world of warcraft....sheesh....and the dude was not young...

Have you been by to see the Great White? He's pretty cool looking. But we were all thrilled with the sunfish and the 600 lb Tuna. The Great White was hassling the sea turtle a bit. I wonder how long it will be before he decides to eat someone in the tank...the docent? there was saying that's why they got rid of the last one....she started biting other fish...

I didn't realize they had a new one! I guess I should read those mailings more often! The sunfish are very cool - they kind of come and go, they don't always have one.

The last one did in fact get rather aggressive as time went on. I think it was more nipping than eating but the writing was on the wall, and they'd already shattered all records for keeping one, so they decided enough was enough.

Charlie....this is most definately not a private spot. As I was taking this shot I had at least two people come up and ask me what I was taking a picture of. It is almost right at the start of the famous 17 mile drive near pebble beach....a shame really. But...there are many places south of here that would work just as well! Edward Weston shot a lot in this area.

Such is the case...I think its funny that you would actually get people asking you what you are photographing, when to you and I, its very evident what you were shooting, but then I've had people ask me the same thing.

But seriously, it was pretty obvious what I was shooting. I think he wanted to find out if I was someone famous....or, maybe he was just friendly!

Truly amazing shot. Is that truly as the camera captured it? I've been looking at HDR to approximate this kind of thing but this is... wow... just... wow!

Well, it was captured in two exposures. I have one with the inbetween, but I like to blend shots to capture the dynamic range when I can.

I can't wait to see the prints and then hang them! Yes, the shoot went great. We had a ton of fun. I think we even managed to get a couple of keepers but even if not, we had a ton of fun. Definitely will shoot with him again.
