Description Submitted to Marin Photo Club last night...now on my office wall due to mistakes of:

Too much sky, and too little base. It's still a beautiful print in my opinion. The BW photos I can get out of my photojet 8750 rival anything I could ever get out of my darkroom.

This at the Delicate Arch overlook looking the other way...

Nicely done. I have to agree, it needs to be panned down, but only a very small amount.

you never can tell what they are going to like or dislike, what they are looking for or what they deem acceptable. all you can go with is your gut and your talent and if they agree with you, great, if not, then its their problem.

all i have seen from you is great art

enjoy

I know...it also depends on the other images they are looking at. I'm in it more for the critique I can get. I have gotten some really valuable feedback so far.

it's strange to think that it's because of something as simple as that... to much sky ad not enough base when I love this again. As a tree lover myself i want to hug it but it has such potential for something more sinister. i was looking at an artist today called Johnath Henry Fuseli who drew nightmarish pictures, some based on shakespere and I think this would fit in well with his imagry he used. You've caught the feeling of this lonely creature so well, execelent shot

Well, it's funny, I had a feeling about the sky but there I was trying to use the rule of thirds too much...

rules are there to be broken, repaired, have an extension built onto, some bay windows and a small studio to make other little rules that wil be broken!

I somewhat agree (with your assetment) but I still love the starkness of the image. It's beautiful and you should hang it with pride .

Too little base indeed. Though there is just enough sky for the tree to make an impression of reaching out into it.

Do you feel the itch of capturing subjects like this on film?

Why don't you crop it if there is "too much sky" and see if you like it more? I agree with the critique, but find the pic beautiful nonetheless.

Actually, it does look quite a bit better. I left the print as is in my office. And I likely won't re-submit it...but...who knows maybe when I run out of material

Maybe you can toss it in the scraps folder? I would love to see what it looks like!

That is sooooo much better! I love it
All the textures of the wood come out and the framing is perfect.
Thank you so much for showing this
