Hoo boy, here we go. I’m opening the can of worms that is blood swaps. For this example, I’ve purposefully chosen two easily to I.D. costume designs, and altered them.

In my headcanon, I don’t see them changing very much. Karkat may get a little more focused in his ranting, but the fact he’s a loudmouth won’t change at all. His sign still dictates a lot of his personality. Given the focus to his ranting, and the fact he’d be squeaking by on the tail end of the blue spectrum, I COULD see him aiming at becoming a legislacerator. With a push, he could be a demon in a court room.

Physical changes include the tint to his hair (It was red before, now it’s teal tint), his eyes, and his horns. He’d likely be a little taller as well, though compared to Sollux being higher on the spectrum, he’d still be a midget by comparison. I still see him using his signature weapon, as well as being very physical. Again, this outfit is mostly cosplay based on Redglare.

Sollux would still be heavily influenced by the Gemini sign, leaving in place the duality. However, I’ve toned down his eyes to a darker shade. The blue blood would likely make him more violent, more vindictive instead of passive. I could see him with a habit for abusing the Gemini ‘skilled at everything they aim for’ habit like this, following possibly in a Mindfang direction.. and outdoing her by proving that luck isn’t everything. Who needs rules when you’re THIS skilled?

Physical changes would include larger fore horns, blue tinted hair, and a slightly more engaging attitude. Psionic abilities would be almost nil, the few remaining being from the Gemini sign and the duality in his brain. Think short circuiting wires. The clothing is an homage to Mindfang, who’s hips were striking enough to almost kill this drawing. I’d intended to add much more detail, but after a week of struggling with this..? I decided to leave good enough at good enough.

Please note: I don’t feel that blood swaps change the personality to another canon character. Sollux is still a dick. Karkat is still a dick. I DO feel, however, that the blood color changes their reactions. Given that Karkat wasn’t a mutant growing up, he’d not be as cagey and bitter. Sollux wouldn’t be all that different aside from being raised with the message he was better than a lot of other trolls.
