Well, you could experiment with textures a bit, like what the other digital painters do to give their paintings a little push.

It being a college assignment, we were meant to use a technique we were taught in the class, I wasn't sure if it had been okay to textures (like I usually do) or not - so decided not to.
I think I'm more unhappy with the original drawing than the actual painting. The perspective was hard and I had to finish the drawing in a rush, and once I had coloured a good bit I started noticing several mistakes, which were too late to fix, seeing I was already behind schedule. :C

Fuck the class. Do your thing and continue it in private.
And even when this one is not perfect, it is one step to become better.
And I also care about every line i make. I demotivates more to nitpick yourself than accept that nothing is 100%. I finished a 9 Page comic and found also 100 mistakes, but at the end it was fine and nobody will notice anyway, except me.

I'm happy having finished this picture though, I don't think I'll go adding to it.
Once my college shit is all done, I can't wait to try out this technique with additional textures and whatnot, of something else rather than "fan art". I'm dying to do something 50's pin-upish. : D
Btw, I've done a gift art sketch for you, planning to color it as soon as I'm not busy with college things.

not only is it funny, and appropriate for the subject matter, but if you were some crazy painting major at some college I suppose you could right a 10 page thesis on some sort of meaning that is 90% bullshit 10% ego stroaking.
