Oh yah. I still draw.So this is a commission for the lovely one herself, Β
I really hope this looks good! I did it in a day, maybe my fastest full sequence tf to date!
She wanted it Shiny, but I wanted the mother.
If it wasn't already obvious, I had little faith in myself about pulling off a panel sequence for the first time since November, so I went into 's gallery and looked at a few.
And you all know I don't know how to draw 'cutesy', so for the final panel there was a LOT of sketching in my pad, I even asked for advice! Even though his reply came 6 hours later and it was already finished.
So I hope you enjoy this Neon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And does anyone wanna take a guess what "Mi Hermosa" means? Come on.
There was a LOT of black in this piece, I hope it all came out. And this is a new scanner I'm using, so tell me if the quality is better...or worse. Or if the lighter colors picked up better or worse because I'm color blind. XD

Hmm, this was on the border of Unfair...so I'll throw in my response.
I showed the original form, changing parts, and the shrinking, I don't think I need to show multiple panels of each part, they're all happening at the same time.
I Β stress myself a lot for the comparison, but she's mentoring me so yay.
Not embarrassed. We're friends.
One page TFs don't need to be written like a novel. Simple story will suffice. Especially when the outcome wraps it up, like here.
I hear ya, I wouldn't hate on critiques since I ask for them. I DO kinda think the story thing was something that you were a little biased towards but maybe that's just me.
Thanks~

I just don't understand it at all. I think the founder tried explaining it but it went right over my head. Like, so the person just randomly turns into a random pokemon? Because of a family thing? Maybe I don't like it because I hate being in situations I can't control, regardless of it being Pokemon. IT also sounds very Mystery Dungeony to me which I also am not a fan of.

Nah, it's more of an alternate-reality type deals. I can explain the story. (bit of a doozy)
There was a time when Pokemon roamed the earth, founding an advanced civilization; they could do so much with so little.
Then, humans were found.
With their guidance, the humans became smarter and wiser with the background assistance of Pokemon. Some Pokemon even disguised themselves as humans and went so far as to have families with them.
But the greed of humankind was too great. Eventually, they found out about the existence of Pokemon and started enslaving them, using them for their own selfish wants.
Eventually, the Pokemon grew tired and revolted, which led to full-scale warfare. Millions on both sides - and even more that took no side - were hopelessly slain without a second thought.
But, one day, Arceus had had enough of the senseless bloodshed. He used his power to stop the warfare by removing every single piece of evidence that Pokemon had ever existed in the world. His own Creation Trio assisted him as well. Even one of the Lake Spirits had a role - Uxie used its memory-wiping ability to lock the knowledge of Pokemon existence to the humans, forever eliminating their presence to the humans. After all was said and done, every living Pokemon crossed into a portal made by Arceus to another world on a parallel dimension similar to that of Earth, where the true Pokemon reside.
Out of every living Pokemon, only Mew remained behind. He was made to remain behind to make sure the humans truly forgot.
And, for millenia, it seemed as if everything was once again peaceful.
However, an event that happened a century ago (circa 1900-1908, I don't have a clear exact date memorized) threatens the piece.
A brilliant scientist of the time known as Mr. X was researching cloning technology when he found the DNA of Mew out in an expedition of his. Intrigued, he went and tried to replicate Mew using his prototype machine that could clone anything from a piece of source DNA.
However, it catastrophically (and, if I may say so myself, OBVIOUSLY) destroyed itself, failing to clone Mew. The end result was a meltdown of the machine that eradicated all in the vicinity of the lab except for Mr. X and one of his assistants. Mr. X himself was turned into a Mewtwo and, with the transformation, came a horrible recollection of the times of the war between Pokemon and humans.
And remember when I said that some Pokemon had made families with humans? Well, that embedded a gene in some humans from time to time that was dormant. The blast in the lab of Mr. X activated his and made it into a Berserk Gene, making him furious at the decision of the Pokemon to flee their world. He eventually sought to destroy all Pokemon from existence and claim a spot as ruler of the Earth (or something like that, I dunno).
However, the explosive meltdown of his cloning machine released a genetic shockwave that encircled the globe, reactivating the long-dormant genes in humans of their Pokemon ancestors.
Thus came the Pokeumans - a hybrid of Pokemon and human.
When Mew found out, he knew that Mr. X would force the Pokeumans to join him or be eradicated, so he formed (what I like to call) the Pokeumans Network - a worldwide system dedicated to protecting, growing and readying young Pokeumans across the world.
For a century, the Pokeumans have steadily grown. But Mr. X's power grew stronger with every day. The world's only hope lies in the hands of a kid named Brandon, who had a special power locked within him. He was soon thrust into a world of danger, sacrifice and, above all, war...
(and that's the main gist of it)

THAT sounds interesting. But what about beyond that? Just story after story of people being Pokemon and being chased and the network finding them. Seems like it'd get really repetitive.Β

Well, anyone's allowed to write a spinoff the way they want as long as they follow certain guidelines.
Restricts creativity in my opinion, but it's to keep order in the universe, so I'm OK with it.

Yeah, but all I'm saying is that a more full TF might appeal to more people. Plus, it gives you more of a chance to work on spots you struggle with.
That's awesome, man. Lot of people would love to learn from her (myself included)
Hey, I'm just saying. Thinking before acting ALWAYS works out better in the end, brah. (and BELIEVE me when I say I KNOW that for a fact)
I'm not saying that all TFs should be excessively long. It's more of a personal preference on length for these, to be honest. And I will say that there have been plenty of one-shots that I've loved as well - just more interesting to have one develop. (and a lot of good stories can start from expanding on a simple idea )
Well, I've... seen a few of your Critiques. Reason why I said that is because you seem to be really harsh. Don't get me wrong, some people may deserve a kick in the right direction from time to time, but there is such a thing as TOO harsh. I try to be firm, but fair when I judge something cuz I know that's what I would want from others. Hope you understand.
Not a problem. 'swhat I do :3

The first thing I have noticed is the hard to read text. I have issues reading small cramped handwriting so it is probably just me. I love the frame placement, and the way you transformed the character slowly into what it was suppose to be at the very end. I enjoyed the bright colors and the consistent colored in lines, which is quite neat and organized. My favorite frame is the very last scene, it made he happy and giggle. The short story line was kind of random, but it was nice to read and imagine. Very good job, you are a wonderful artist. P.S I love that shade of blue you used, so very cute!

this is really cute~
Couple pointers
~your speech bubbles seem to be squished between your panels and pictures, it helps to draw everything out in pencil first and just draw out the bubbles for speech and make sure you draw out enough room for what they are saying. if drawing out with pencil make sure to draw very VERY lightly so that it wont imprint the paper with lines later
~medical books with pictures can really help out with anatomy, i didnt really start getting good at body shape until i was doodling in my medical classes in highschool. just copying and getting all the curves right can get in some good practice!
~and shading, when coloring, color everything lightly fist then start to darken areas that would be shaded
The Good
~ Your expressions are really spot on, neon looks completly shocked and mother looks really happy! expressions can be difficult to get right, but you seem to have a really good understanding of it~ e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title="
(Big Grin)"/>
~Hands are also difficult to draw but its another thing that you nailed! especially in panel 5 and 7.
~panels are well organized and easy to understand. The story is also nice and tied up. you only had one page to contain all the feelings and thoughts the mother had about having a child and the transformation as well. You captured it all very well
Hope this all helps out~ cant wait to see more

I've always been a fan of transformation comic, illustrating the process of change and mutation in sequential graphic detail. Yours is one of many of my favorite TF tropes, "Be careful what you wish for", only this time turned not on the wisher, but on a hapless victim of magical circumstance (another favorite trope). Interesting execution if the idea, but perhaps a bit bizarre in its playing out, not that that's a bad thing. The only things I can critique about art-wise are a couple of things: one being that I think there should be another step between the last two stages of hand/paw transformation, and the other being her eyes in the third-to-last panel being a bit skewed. Otherwise, it's rough but marvelous.

In a sense. Sometimes I have the theory that chronological age and Pokemon evolution are distinct processes, like how Ash's Pikachu stayed a Pikachu for so many years. Then again, Ash is still in his early 10's after all these years, too!!
