Sometime you just have to draw you own characters~

I guess this is kind of a mini ref sheet~ I didn't plan on it being one but once I started organizing the images I figured why the heck not. A lot of you all know my little Maple by sight but don't know much about her. Most of her story and personality is all in my head so I figured I would try and write it out so you can get to know her a little bit better :3

Extended Bio:

Name: Maple Blush
Nickname: Maple
Age: 21 (young adult)
Talent: Seeing into the heart of others.
Occupation: Counselor specializing in couple, family, and grief counseling.
Hobbies: Singing, Playing with other's manes, and reading.
Likes: Sweets, Coffee, Candles, Rainy Weather, friends, and festivals.
Dislikes: Bullies, Horror Movies, the Heat (hot hot weather), and ponies who point out her blushing (it gets annoying).
loves: being pampered.
Fears: Large predators, like Griffons.
Hates: Talking about her family. Lies (She can tell when a pony lies to her).
Family: A little sister (the problem child), father, and mother.
Status: Dating <3
Note: Maple Blush got her name from the fact they she is always blushing. Her blush depends on her mood and can be subtle or very noticeable.

Personality:

Maple is shy by nature but not cripplingly so (like Fluttershy). She loves being around other ponies and tries her best to make sure everyone is happy, which she is always sure to do since she can see what a pony needs most. A shoulder to cry on, a laugh, a hug, or some chocolate, Maple always seems to know what her friends need before they themselves do... which to them can be annoying sometimes but they know she means well. Though she may seem reserved in public once you have her friendship and get her alone she is an open book who loves to talk about anything and everything.

Background Story:

Maple Blush is a unicorn that comes from a long line of psychics, fortune tellers, and hoof readers. Though her ancestors were unicorns of impressive power, Maple’s family bloodline has thinned through the years leaving Maple’s power a glimmer of what her ancestors were. Incidentally, Maple’s special talent is seeing into ponies hearts and seeing what they need most. Even without her magic she is very skilled at reading ponies emotions and body language, however, when the magic within her activates and her psychic heritage kicks in she is able to see much more.

Maple psychic moments happen when something deep inside her senses two ponies who are meant to be together. In her visions images flash of the two ponies and it is from those visions Maple is able to guess where she can find each pony. From that moment on Maple make’s it her mission to guide those two souls together… however she must be careful on how she intervenes. Being too brash she could upset the pair and they would be lost to each other forever, being too subtle and the two would never cross paths. It is a delicate balance that Maple struggles with. Thankfully, these ‘visions’ are extremely rare and have only happened a few times in her life.

Since Maple’s role as matchmaker is inconsistent (and unprofitable) she instead uses her skills as a counselor for all creatures of Equestria. Though she helps her clients in many different ways most ponies come to her for couple, family, and grief counseling. She loves her job and takes jot in helping ponies work through their emotions and help them find the good in their lives.

Though Maple has a tinny home/ clinic in Ponyville she also had small clinic in Canterlot. She makes many trips between the two places and also finds herself traveling to other cities to see clients or meet up with friends. Maple is always on the move and not in one place for more than a month. When not in Canterlot or Ponyville she crashes at her friends places while in other cities when meeting with her ‘out of town’ clients. Though she doesn't mind the travel she is most comfortable and at home in Ponyville.

Maple is hardly in touch with her family and her friends find it odd that she avoids the subject all

Maple' dreams to go out into the world one day to find her families old clan in order to meet other psychics that could help her developer her power. This is just a fantasy of hers though and she has never taken it seriously. She doesn’t even know how she would begin to track down her clan.

Strengths:

Good at reading emotions/ body languages without her magic.

Can tell when the average pony is lying.

Is generally open-minded and kind-hearted.

Weaknesses:

Her magic is weaker than a typical unicorns. She can do basic levitation (nothing heavier than a big book) and illumination. If she tries really hard and practiced she can do other kinds of magic, however, she really has no need or desire to develop her magical ability.

Maple’s ability to ‘feel’ other ponies around her and their emotions is something she can never turn off. Though it is always ‘on’ she has slowly learned to control this ‘6th sense’ and increase or decrease it as she desires. However, this ability does not come without a cost. If Maple is in large crowds, or amps up her power to really find out what is really in a pony’s heart, she gets tired very quickly and can even black out.
