There are a few things I would have done with Infinite in Sonic Forces.First of, he would have been a playable character for at least the part before he had the Phantom Ruby
Secondly, I would have developed his relationship with his squad. See, the way they made Infinite turned into the character in the game, is that Shadow called him pathetic and Infinite wanted to show that he isn't weak.
What I would have done instead, is that Infinite snaps because Shadow murdered his squad. Before that happens, we see a few cutscenes and even moments in his stages where you see his relationship with the squad, how much it meant to him, and how Shadow destroying it made him the Jackal he is in Forces.

I would've done that as well, I actually am doing that with my version of him. (Not exactly the same but, it's a start)

They could have expanded with him if they were to add him in the IDW comics, but with how Flynn is I doubt that will ever happen.

I honestly would've loved if they at least had a more satisfying end for him. Because all we got was him disappearing and that was pretty much the end of it, and we don't even know if he really died or not. Imagine a scene where he stubbornly tries to defy death and tries to fight it to the point that he excessively exerts the power of the Phantom Ruby and it starts to distort his actual physical makeup, like his face starts melting or glitching or something and then during a final boss fight with him, his whole body just becomes this distorted mess by the end of it, or the Phantom Ruby makes his body its host and takes on sentience. A bit far out there, but THAT would've been cool.
