I love Ruby, but I've never been too fond of her design. More so her outfits. Some time ago, I learned more about character design, and how the apearence of a charcter should help the viewer understand what kind of charcter they're gonna be

And with Ruby, all I can pick up from her design just from looking at her is that she's gothic, intense, and in mourning. When in reality, while that's partially true, she's mostly the complete opposite

Anywho, I decided to design her an outfit with similiar elements, but a little more juevinile (and not in a lolita way) and spirited. I also felt it was important to add some white to balance out the overpowering black n red. The undershirt and overall skirt also gives that touch of fairytale maiden, and mechanic. Because she does love tinkering with her weapon

All in all, I think it turned out pretty ok, though I suck at drawing shoes, so I just gave her some regular outdoor combat boots with her color scheme. Also looking back I should've gave her goggles, but I forgot until after the sketch, plus I'm too lazy to go back and add some
