Our anniversary is coming up soon, and it’ll be six amazing years this August, so I decided to make some throw-back art to remember how it all began. Just two emo high schoolers bonding over unpopular emo music. This wolf+fox duo is in it for the long haul.
So thank you to Mr. Blue Furstenfeld and the Mighty M. Shads & Jim Jams Sullivan for making kick-ass music and giving us something to talk about on our spring band tour. God knows we'd have endured the 5-hour ride in awkward do-you-like-me? silence without that musical conversation starter. We're both bollocks at social queues.

Well ppl in general are lame xD and they need something to hate, so why not hate on the thing you don't understand? That's easy and othering right? Right? Ergo, furries are targets. It's easy to find some shitty backwoods furry artist that makes demeaning and nasty porn and say 'all furries are like dis hurrdarrdarrrp' but it's much harder to be open minded hence why I elected to leave the human race and be a firetruck instead.

Right-of course people'd hate furries, because "omg how disgusting". And somehow they ignore all the normal anthro stuff. Just focusing on the bad parts fuels their hate. It's almost like it's a collective movement for furry haters to create a bad image of the fandom.

And it's also something that is a 'minority' group, therefore it's easier to make assumptions and pin us with a bad light, cos unfortunately the icky furs are the ones who get attention and brand us that way.
Also most of our 'famous' furs are known for art theft, general douche baggery, or take up like 9000 pages on Artists Beware. Which sucks.
But no one likes reading about the good stuff, it's boring, y'know. So that's what the world sees us as. And they never see anything good we do.
The whole thing is stupid, really. We have some amazing artists and suit makers and just generally creative ppl but cos we fall under the furry label, our art doesn't count. I have to use my sona 100% of the time on dA and Tumblr and fun sites cos I don't want anyone in my professional realm to know about this side of me, even though there's nothing wrong with it at all. But it's a pain in the ass keeping those worlds apart, really..

Yeah, because the media only takes interest in what's taboo in a subculture. Which of course only makes us look bad.
The annoying thing is that there are tons of people who are uneducated about what an actual furry is, and then they go around spreading an untrue opinion on what furries are, with that opinion becoming accepted by the public. It's like that with a lot of things, actually, and that's honestly one of my pet peeves 'cause then I get the intense need to go around and explain to ppl real info about the subject. And that's not even limited to my being a furry; it's applicable to other areas as well. I guess that's what being a minority's about. Also why people of all sorts of groups often need to spread awareness of various issues.
Ah, the classic "waste of talent" accusation and instantly degraded image of artists simply expressing their creativity with something they enjoy. It's ridiculous that there are tons of amazing artists but as soon as it's revealed that they're furry artists suddenly they aren't so good,as if making anthro art disqualifies the artists' actual value D: I'd be annoyed too if I was in your kind of situation.
