Description
Somewhere in 1940 Mariosania saw german SturmgeschΓΌtz III during Battle of France, and had captured two in 1941.Mariosania fell in love with those things and were treated as a valuable prize to capture.
Development of a simmilar vehicle to support infantry was ordered, and the project was started in cooperation by Nazuk and Metalnik.
The chassis of MCP-M was used because it was avaliable in large numbers and existing production lines could be used.
Instead of 50mm cannon of MCP-M, a 75mm cannon was fitted.
The finished vehicle was ready for production by 1942, recieving a brand new designation MDP-1.
At simmilar time, MCP-MW medium tank was introduced, so less MCP-M were being produced (But still were) and more chassises were avaliable.
Production was fast as son of a b*tch, as many companies were making it, making it the most-produced armored fighting vehicle and second most produced vehicle after CA-PG1, managing to match Stug III at around 10 000 units.
Other name for this vehicle is DP-75
Crewed by 4 men, armed with 75mm cannon and 7.92mm (or 7.62mm) machine gun, protected by 14 - 80mm of armor.
Name: MDP-1
Type: Assault Gun
Year: 1942
