Description Usage of machine guns in Mariosania traces back to some early constructions like the Gatling gun which was used in some numbers.
In late 1890s to early 1900s Mariosania looked a bit into Maxim Gun and some were bought for infantry and some for navy.
Mariosania first used them in 1905 during the Mariosanian-Swedish War with success (Small number of Madsen LMG also were used), that led to machine guns being look at more favorable in the country.
In simmilar time, British QF 1 pounder 37mm autocannon was bough and to be license production in Mariosania, that will start the way to this gun.

SPK Topazów would be tweakong around with Maxim Gun, including larger caliber guns (the standard Pattern 1909 maxim was 6.5mm)
This experimental designs wouldn't go anywhere and 1 pounder remained in service.
During ww1 a version of 1909 chambered in 11mm Gras (in Mariosania known as 11mm Bonman) was made for balloon busting, but it wasn't large cartridge like .50BMG, but still step in right direction.

Skipping to late 1920s SPK is once again trying to make a large caliber machine gun, inspired by American M2 Browning .50 cal.
First step was to make a suitable cartridge, best caliber was 12,7mm and length at first was 110mm, later being shortened to 106mm.
First version was presented in 1932 at Premyslavian Proving Ground where it got tested. Army wasn't satisfied with it, but allowed further development.
For next 3 years work would continue that finally led to Pattern 1935 in 12,7x106mm, production begun the same year.
It was mountes originally on the tripod seen on pictire, but later changes to modified and upscaled Topazów Tripod (used on machine guns produced there).
The gun was belt-fed, belts came either in 50 or 100 rounds.

Army were buying it for use in Infantry, Navy, Mounted on Armored Vehicles and later also Aircraft variant was made. Name NKM is short for Najcięższy Karabin Maszynowy (Heaviest Machine Gun)

Although proving good and reliable during the beginning of ww2, there was clear room for improvements.
Tye biggest change was cartridge, production of the 12,7x106mm started having more and more problems, so because of that, NKM 35 was rechamberes to soviet 12,7x108mm. That switch cutted off some costs and allowed Mariosania to use the same ammo on their Pattern 35 and Soviet DShK and get ammo for Soviets.
The opportunity also allowed to simple the construction and cut-off production costs.
Much more fitted for mass production was called the Mark II, serving as the standard Large Heavy Machine Gun although alongside DShK and lend-lease M2. Still normal 7.92mm machine guns were more common sight, like Pattern 38 Topaz.
It could be commonly seen on vehicles such as tanks, standard and half-track trucks, some aromred cars and planes.
Last vehicle to use the machine gun was MCP-CW prototype Heavy Tank made in 1945. After that DShK took over its role.
Pattern 35 last use was in Korea, but only as machine guns mounted on tanks.
