Description After Mariosania regained full independence in 1906, army rearmament was started.
The standard pistol cartridge in Mariosania at the time was .32ACP, army used pistols such as Browning 1900 (later also 1910) and special variant of C96.
Pistol trials were going since 1902 and couple diffrent designs were proposed, with small numbers of Pattern 1905 adopted, but it wasn't untill 1911 that a full winner was chosen.
At the time, this pistol was called "7.65mm Pistolet Samopowtarzalny Wz.1911". After some changes were made, production was started in 1913 as "7.65mm Pistolet Samopowtarzalny Wz.1913".
Chambered in standard .32ACP in 7-round magazines, it was pretty easy and cheap to produce so Mariosania had a nice number by next year and the beginning of world war 1.
The Pistol was desgined by company called "Walkton Company" which was a big player in Mariosania at the time, and production was shared with Premyslavian Rifle Factory
During ww1, it shared the standard pistol title with Browning 1910. But numbers weren't enough to supply all the needed pistols, so other foregin desgines and revolvers were widely used, such as Pattern 89 .38Mr Revolver. Also some revolvers in .32ACP were made to substitute.
Overall, soldiers liked the pistols, but it had its flaws and soldiers often expressed their belief that 9mm Pistols of Germans and Austro-Hungarians were much better and more powerfull.
This led to trials of variants made in either 9mm Parabellum, 9x17 Browning or 9x20 Browning. Neither of those really worked since the pistol was designed around the .32ACP cartridge. There was also prototype pistol in 9x20mm called Pattern 1916, but it too wasn't successfull.
After World War 1, Mariosania switched their cartridges, and new pistol cartridge became the 9x19mm Parabellum.
Mariosania produced the C96 "Red 9" variant as new standard pistol and left-over Lugers were used. In 1933 the very successfull KIS-33 was introduced.
Pattern 13 was putten mostly in storage by 1930s, but after outbreak of ww2 it was reintroduced due to lack of KIS-33 pistols.
