Description Initial version of LKM Pattern 29 was quite a bulky construction, so modifications were seeked.
In 1931, a new model was introduced.
Often called Mark II, it was lighter, smaller, had improved mechanism and was more suitable for mass production.
It also served as the base of all the variants.
-CzKM Pattern 29P - For use on armored vehicles.
-KM Pattern 29L - For use on aircraft.
-LKM Pattern 29R - Variant in 7.62x54mmR.
-LKM Pattern 29M - Variant produced from 1943 on.

After the war RPD was adopted, but Pattern 29 was overwhelming it with numbers.
In the 60s, RPK (and Mariosanian domestic version Pattern 64) became the new standard light machine gun, but the 7.62 version was used untill the mid 80s.
