Description
And another military commission! This one was made for halcyonicwolf ! Here we have his character Hauptmann Heinrich Meade, a German Shepherd, serving as a German Army Officer during WW2. He's got the Knight's cross and the Iron Cross as Military awards and in his hand he's got a Mauser C96. Also - digitigrade bootsThis was a commission where, inspired by Nathan Fowkes' artwork, I tried to make the colors appear "juicier" and thought in slightly different way about light and shadow. I think it really made a difference in the end!
If you're interested in commissioning me, I'm open! Feel free to check my prices here: thepimpartist.deviantart.com/a… and send me a note. Thank you for checking out my work!
Note: This is just a depiction of a military uniform that was worn by regular people during the War and has nothing to do with Nazism.

really enjoy that work, but i prefer a bit that variant
of without boots.
Look more like a beast and the digitilegs work really good and of course i like paws.

Heya ^^!
Thank you! They are very different works though - this one is a commission for a customer while the one you posted is some WW1-themed personal work I did. So they're different characters, even though they're both German Shepherds ^^!

Having trouble telling whether this is a Nazi officer or an officer under the keizer.

Heya !
The easiest way to differentiate between the WW1 and WW2 German armed forces is probably the helmet/hat.
In WW1 Gemany you've got these iconic hats for the officers and the armed forces with two "dots" at the front - one representing Germany (red white and black) and the other representing the State from which the regiment came from (eg: Hessen, Bavaria etc). Even more iconic than that is the Pickehaube! This would be the lower quality model for the soldiers: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… and this would be the officer model: cdn3.volusion.com/3fyq2.mno9q/… .
For WW2 officers(such as above) we have these visor caps: www.epicmilitaria.com/german-w… which are easily distinguishable by: the two white strings over the visor, the decorative leaf pattern above and finally, the eagle on top.
Hope that answers your question ^^.
There are other differences of course, but the hat usually gives it away. Also, here's a really cool video for the WW1 German uniforms if you wish to learn more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMxwfi… .

Thanks for explaining! I guess I got it mixed up with the WWI M1915 from Russia. Sorry about that.

He is clearly a Heer officer of the Third Reich, how can you honestly not tell?

Yeah because the artist probably didn't want to draw them. Thats clearly a Reichsadler on thet tunic and cap. Are swastikas really all it takes?

Well, the eagle on the cap made me think it might be from the Third Reich, but WWI officer uniforms looked similar to WWII uniforms. Both of them used the iron cross.

With regards to the German tunic, an easy way to remember it is: if it has a shitload of buttons, it's probably WW1 XD.

The Iron Cross predates the both and you are just plain wrong, that is a Heer uniform from WW2 simple as that.

I know that that symbol predates them both; I never said otherwise.
Why are you getting so pissed at me for misinterpretting a uniform?

Nice job really, boots seem a bit iffy but thats probably because of the leg type.
Damn shame everyone that draws German militaria has to put up a little disclaimer saying things black and white for people who make stupid conclusions too quickly.

Heya! Thank you!
Yep, digitigrade shoes rarely make sense but the customer specifically requested them. The best solution I find is to just treat them like shoes/boots with heels and then just delete the heels.
Also, yeah, I know... but whether we like it or not, The German Reich, Imperial Japan, The Soviet Gulags etc are still part of our collective history and we can't just bury them, pretend they never happened and then never talk about (or draw) these subjects again.
