If I had to choose a Halloween costume, it would be something similar to this young girl's. I'm not sure which field she's studying, but I'm sure it's magical. Don't ask me what the pumpkin is doing. xDΒI worked on this for a giveaway. ^^

I know you submitted this 2 months ago, but I hope I can still say some things about this piece of traditional art. By looking at this and the tags you put on this deviation, I see that you have done this with all pencil. Did you use a few different kinds of pencils. Because for the darker areas it looks like you used something like a 2B or higher. and an hb pencil for the lighter parts of your drawing. Β I do like the design of this character quite a lot, It has a lot of cute put into it
The girl's outfit and design are quite adorable, I like the magical anime girl theme you went for. Β and that pumpkin looking thing is rather funny looking, I like it. The shading on this is amazing too, Shows where things should be light and where things should be dark really well, as I mentioned earlier it looks like you used many different pencils. which is a good thing because different pencils can be lighter or darker. B pencils are darker than number 2 and H pencils are lighter than number 2 pencils. Now you're much better at shading than I am, But you could even try using a blending stump, Which can sometimes blend shading together very well and make the drawing pop out more
The lines are also very clean and smooth, looks like you either used a very dark pencil or a micron marker pen on the outline. But in my personal opinion the shading is the best part of this drawing, I like the way you did it
So overall, I like this drawing. It's nicely drawn, and it's rather cute looking and I like the fantasy aspect of it. really nicely done, How long did it take you to do?

I chose your piece because your style looks very well developed and it suits the character perfectly.
The way you used different pencils (or you differentiated pencil pressure) gives the piece a good deal of internal dynamism, so that minor details are lighter and important traits are highlighted by darker strokes. The design of the character is really the strong point, since you fused typical magic girls characteristics (big eyes, long curly hair, kawaii looks)Β with something more fantasy themed, like her dress and the decorations on it. I really think those cat-shaped stockings were really a good idea. They make it difficult to mentally date this character, putting it automatically in a timeless dimension of your creation. Even her role is not simple to understand, she looks like a mage or young witch, but also a student, from her book and pencil. Yet from the goggles she could be an explorer. Everything she may be would be very innovative in characterisation thanks to the spurious element ot traditional characterisation you put together.
The pumpkin is maybe the part I like less, because it's a good idea but it doesn't look like is fully developed. The shape is strange (but not too much), its eyes are good but the mouth has something twisted that I can't seem to grasp. The handbag is fantastic, but I would has stressed it even more maybe making it bigger, shoulder bag full of stuff. The hat, too, is a good element but maybe too little developed, especially that spiral over it that confuses the normale shape of a witch's hat. Adding a little buckle, maybe... or not coloring it all black, leaving the space for light and darks.
In general I LOVE this piece, there is so much material to work on! I hope you have a good day!
