As with any special unit within any military organization, the training attrition ratio is extremely high. The Range Vipers are no different. Those who do graduate often do not live long as this specialty Viper unit is heavily utilized by Cobra Command. However, within in Cobra, there exists an unofficial rank of Range Vipers. Range Viper Omega. An Omega is the last man alive from any given Range Viper graduating class. They have survived by utilizing brain, brawn, firepower, and utter ruthlessness and should be considered some of the most dangerous men alive. Groups like the SEALs, Delta, Mossad, CIA and the Spetsnaz have been issued “Capture or Kill” orders for any man suspected of being a Range Viper Omega. None have run one to ground as of yet. The Range Viper’s amazing ability to disappear into the surrounding environment and not survive, but thrive, has made the task impossible.
Range Viper Omegas equip themselves with gear they have obtained from those they’ve killed in combat or stolen on supply raids. The only Cobra issued equipment they retain is the S.K.U.L.L. helmet, which contains night vision, comm gear and even a poisonous gas dispersal unit in the gapping mouth, making capturing one a daunting and dangerous task.
