I've actually wanted to draw one of these guys for a while. I find Christian mythology and sacred art to be super fascinating, if that's not apparent by some of my past illustrations, so yes, I'm all about biblically accurate angels. Ophanim / thrones are pretty sweet, so it was a real pleasure to finally have a good opportunity to draw one. Those rings, though? They were a bitch and a half. It's really easy to lose track of what you colored among all of the overlapping parts and eyeballs. My initial sketch actually had more eyeballs-- They were smaller, and thus more fir on the rings. It then occurred to me that coloring three dozen eyeballs would likely end my life, and I decided to make them a bit larger in an effort to prevent a massive migraine in favor of a much smaller one.
