This is probably the most underrated show of my childhood.BTW, loonatics unleashed is having their 10th anniversary this year. Can't believe it's been 10 years... I feel old... lol

The problem with that show was it was good, but it was linked to classic LT. if it had been standalone it would have been viewed much more kindly.

You mean, this is not a spin-off? Oh, I feel so weird giving this information... but then again, if it was suppose to replace the originals, then it won't do a good job because you can't replace the original loony toons.
I thought it was a good show. I thought the characters were inspired by the originals and that's it. Than season 2 came and it was obvious that it was taking place in the loony toons universe.

Well the problem at the time (And for some time after) was that classic LT had fallen out of vogue. Think about classic LT an HB animation; it's a bunch of usually male animals running about the woods or occasionally a house. Same goes for a lot of 70s and 80s animation. (Smurfs, Gummi Bears...) By the 90s a new generation of city living technology-using kids had developed that just didn't care for that sort of thing anymore. Instead comic shows like TMNT and batman started getting market share.
So WB, needed to do some reinvention and they did some good stuff. Tiny toons was basically a redesigned LT, we see expies of all the main characters, a more diverse (read: female containing) cast in a predominantly city environment dealing with stuff like computers and school. Notably it was an *addition* to the classic LT, not a replacement. It was very popukar.
The problem with Loonatics is that it was (or at least seen as) a replacement for the classic characters. (See the animation 'A New Bunny') It was seen as an attempt to make LT 'cool' and 'hip'. It became not a spinoff or addition but a reboot. As such old fans hated it because it was replacing what they liked while new fans were confused as to who these characters were. It was wildly unpopular or underrated.
If the show had been 'standalone' that is, hadn't used characters so obviously based on classic LT it probably would have done very well, maybe excellently. But when you so obviously leash it to something else it has to carry that weight. (See also the movie Noah, the director whines about it not being the bible story. Then why did you use the bible name?)

Oh there have been much MUCH worse. I for one am not a fan of Baby Looney Tunes and the shows before the New Looney Tunes Show were craptacular. The show itself was good, it just made the mistake of being tied too closely to the original, at least in people's minds. To many it wasn't just something new but something that would bury and overwrite half a century's worth of classics.
