Raising the Dead For Dummies:

Step 1: Be ABSOLUTELY sure that the body you're practicing on is dead. You'd be amazed how many times rookies make this mistake. You also might want to choose a fresh corpse, as long-decayed bodies have a tendency to fall apart upon resurrection.

Step 2: Once you've made sure your experimentee has indeed expired, carve the noted symbol on the flesh above their heart. Any sharp object will suffice, but first-timers will find it easier if they use a scalpel or knife.

Step 3: Begin imbuing the target with your magic.
-Note: It is incredibly important that you not make an effort to place the deceased's soul back in their body. This will give your thrall a will of its own. And remember, we want a completely subservient necrotic pet!

Step 4: After using your preferred method of magic (chanting, Tremere blood magic, calling upon the Shakash-The Dark Wind), bind the thrall to you by placing a drop of your own blood on the center of its forehead. This will prevent other nercromancers from adding your servant to their army.
-Note: The above step usually applies to human necromancers, but fledgling vampires are encouraged to perform this step as well. As the closer you are to the living, the less true power you have over death.
