Description
Overtoad are large reptile like sapients from Byob. They have thousands of tendrils sprouting from the sides of their body, from the base of the neck to near the end of their body. The tendrils on their own are extremely weak but they can be braided together to form limbs at will. While most Overtoad are relatively messy with their tendril braiding, higher class Overtoad have very specific braiding techniques that produce a cleaner stronger limb. Though it does take longer to form as well as longer to switch to a new configuration. Its not uncommon for many Overtoad to use plastic rings as a form of support for their tendrils to base off of. Each tendril can be many times the length of the Overtoad but it is rare that they fully stretch out.

In order to control such a complex limb arrangement, the overtoad brain is spread out along its body with different nodes being almost as smart as a single brain on its own right. These are dedicated to controlling specfic groups of tendrils all regulated by the main node. The main node is in charge of both the lesser nodes and memories.

They have a very high regerative ability. Capable of regenerating with 50% of their main body missing. However if their head is removed they will lose most of their memories apon regeneration. They can see in the dark quite easily, as well as track fast moving objects. However still objects can give them trouble if they haven't seen said object before.

Instead of useing small numbers of large lungs, the overtoad have many small lung pockets in their head fins. These fins are very mailable and can be folded and bent without detriment to their ablity to breathe. Though they do need to straighten them out every now and then due to blood flow. The arrangement of said fins is slightly different for males and females with males tending to have fins distributed along the center of of their heads in a mohawk like configuration. Males also tend to have a larger forehead, smaller mouth, and smaller size compared to most females.

They are semi cold blooded, As they need to heat up after sleeping but once heated they act as a warm blooded organism. Reproduction is done by the male "drying out" some of his tendrils, which the female then eats. The genetic material is then used to make soft shelled eggs, which are kept inside the female until they hatch. The babies are then vomited out of the stomach.

Overtoad society is very colorful, with most being genetically modified to have unnatural colors and patterns. They separated into 2 separate classes, with babies being generically modified to suit the jobs needed. The classes themselves are considered equal under the government, but some classes do think of themselves as higher. Clothing tends to be flowy to accommodate limb changes but some get more restrictive clothing to help with limb stability.

The entire civilization is confined to a single star system. Despite this, it is quite advanced, with almost all of its planets being colonized. The system is on the edge of known space, out of reach of reasonable protection. Like most species in such a situation, abductions become common due to the lack of federation policing.
