Description
A Day in the Life of Ameripan: Friendly StrangersSo here's a taste of my little shorts I've been working on! Something I've always wanted to do. Since Ameripan is such an - as the Japanese call - "uneven pair" (iow: so different), and since they're my favorite, I figured it'd be fun to make little shorts to see how they get through normal life with their drastic differences.
Friendly Strangers basically refers to how oddly conversational and friendly Americans are to strangers. I do realize this isn't the same in all states (ie. New York is most definitely not as friendly as Utah), but since I do live in one of those friendlier states - and seeing as it's more American anyways (New York is NOT the "American experience" but Utah and other western states sure are!) - I figured it'd be fun to see this. The Japanese are definitely friendly, but saying hello like this to strangers isn't nearly as common.
Also say hi to Lisa. My only human American Hetalia (phew what a mouthful xD) model.
If anyone who is familiar with American and Japanese culture has ideas, I'm open to them!
P.S. Sorry I've been procrastinating. Got busy playing Dragon Age and have so much on my mind and tbh I was kind of nervous to post this because it's not entirely funny, just interesting to me myself and I >w> I hope you guys do enjoy it, though! I've got more in the works if you're interested.

Oh hey! Didn't know you were still using MMD. Don't know if you remember me, but seeing you brings back some memories. How are the chickens?

Oh I'm so sorry this is so late! I really needed a break. xD
The chickens are doing well last I checked! Thanks for asking. I actually finally got a dog and since he kinda is a bird dog (ie, really wants to chase all the birds) I can't keep him around the chickens, so I haven't had the opportunity to spend much time with them, anymore. But I do get updates and they seem do be doing well. Not fond of the snow, but you know. xD

The only friendly Americans experience I had was people letting me nap near the cafeteria campus when I had no classes XD
If anyone is being rude, that means they're best friends

Great comic!
Interesting, I always hear from my American friends that Americans are rarely friendly and usually rude so this is suprising. (They keep saying how friendly we Canadians are and I am like uh....really?)

TheReapersApprentice In reply to Purestrongpoem [2018-07-31 03:04:06 +0000 UTC]
Ooooh haha ok so that's a little different. We're friendly in the...that stranger ain't a stranger type way. Canadians are nice in that the graffiti there is "your mom is a nice lady" whereas here it's "[so-and-so]'s a bitch" xD
That and it really depends on where you are. Sometimes people outside of the US (and even Americans) forget that each state is practically just another country we're just...United (hence United States). We speak the same language, yes, but we all have different accents in each state and different cultures. The East Coast are all pretty much not the friendly sort. Grumpy, business orientated, completely will ignore you because you're not worth their time. Out west - Utah, Colorado, Idaho - are all friendly. Those, in my opinion, are the states that I feel are the most American. Ironically places like New York and DC aren't very American. In fact, I read a Top [insert number here] things French people should know before going to America and it was written by several Frenchies. They all seemed rather impressed with how kind Americans are...to strangers. It's all about strangers oddly enough. And in that we aren't shy. Like, for example, one Frenchie visited America and as he was crossing the street he unknowingly dropped his keys. One local on a bike noticed, and ran after the Frenchman to return his keys (hotel keys or rental car keys, idk what). Granted, though, you will get your random rude person here and there, but that's inevitable anywhere.

Oh I see.
I find it funny for a country call United States, it doesn't seem united. I remember people saying Canada is more united than United States.
But interesting, I always remember hearing stereotypes that Americans are rude people and such and how Americans would pretend to be Canadians when visiting other countries. Idk if that is true. But it is good to hear that Americans are nice (I keep hearing about how rude they are so yeah, am surprise)
But yeah that is true, you would get some rude people no matter where you go.

TheReapersApprentice In reply to Purestrongpoem [2018-07-31 22:45:31 +0000 UTC]
Well we're United in that we're the same country. Not too unlike the EU. More United than that, obviously, but it's the best comparison I could come up with.
Haha well people are really harsh to Americans. Don't really know why, it's kinda sad really. ;7; And the reason why Americans pretend to be Canadian when going to other countries is because of these negative stereotypes. We'd rather people think we're Canadian and leave us alone than have people bash us for just being American. =T I know I've been scolded for being American. Didn't do anything but sit there at a computer e-mailing my mother.
And no, we're not as kind as Canadians, but we still try to be nice people. If someone doesn't hold the door open for someone else, that's considered very rude. Just an example. And maybe our manners aren't the same as other countries, which could make us come off as rude. For instance, in some Asian countries it's very rude to pick your teeth with your fingers, but in America it's fine. However in some Asian countries it's fine for them to chew with their mouth open, but it's incredibly rude here. And yes we're loud, but we're not trying to be disrespectful. It's all about culture. Hell Americans are bashed by the British for every little inconceivable thing. They HATE how friendly we are to strangers. They HATE some of our word choices. Americans are vilified by a lot of people and I cannot figure out why. We really are nice and friendly, it just might be misunderstanding, though. Our loud "Hello" might come off as rude to some, when we're just being friendly.

Even though EU is call Europian Union, they are still a continent with different countries, I believe?
Yeah, it is sad, people shouldn't hide or pretend to be from another country because people are rude to them for it, it isn't fair. Sorry to hear that, that is rude.
I keep hearing the bad things about American from people and even from American people so it is good to hear that Americans aren't as rude as people make them to be.
Btw, idk why there is a sterotype about Canadians being nice but it isn't true? I mean we are not rude people but we aren't nice people. If anything, we are just like any normal country, I don't see us being super nice like people think we are. Although I did know a few American people saying that we are nice and I am just confuse because well idk maybe I am used to living in Canada and what I see normal is not? Idk.
Lol, idk where you are hearing this but I am Asian but in Asia, it is fine to pick your teeth, I seen so many Asians does that in Asia and I know it is rude to eat with your mouth open too in Asia. But yes, different countries have different manners. Like in Asia, it is rude to slurp your soup or noodles but Japan is the only Asian country to think slurping is a good thing.
Lol, Americans are loud? Had you heard Chinese and Filipino people? They are loud, I know Chinese and filipino people and they are very loud....But loud hellos, hm, idk.

Yeah...sorry I'm bad with words xD I guess what I mean is that the US is United, but each state has slightly different cultures and even slightly different laws. But we're still governed the same? Idk does that make sense? XD
Yeah it could just be that you're used to it. Or it could be a bit of both. There are a lot of misconceptions and overblown stereotypes about each country. Maybe Canada is nice but not as nice as people make it seem.
Maybe it's just in Hong Kong. I lived in Hong Kong for almost 2 years talking with and making friends with locals. I know it's definitely rude to pick your teeth and ok to chew with your mouth open there xD Their manners are so backwards there. I know it's definitely different in Japan, so it might definitely be different where you're from. You'refrom Vietnam right?
Hahaha sooooo true xD I remember having a hard time figuring out whether the people in Hong Kong were angry or just...chatting because of how loud they are xD So I guess taking those cultures in consideration, Americans aren't THAT loud. But we definitely are more loud than other countries.

Yeah it make sense.
That is true. Maybe, who knows. I had been to other countries and I seen no difference compare to Canada.
Maybe, idk. I have a friend who grew up in Hong Kong and I know they are very big in manners. That was what my friend said. I will ask her later about it.
Well, my parents are from Vietnam, I was born in Canada.
Right! I get worry not knowing if they are angry or just talking. Haha yeah, maybe other countries are quieter than Americans, I would not know. Don't worry though, we Canadians are not as quiet as Canada from Hetalia. XD

TheReapersApprentice In reply to Purestrongpoem [2018-08-03 19:14:05 +0000 UTC]
Haha well they certainly don't have good manners for American standards. XD Been to too many homes where they burp, chew wih their mouth open, fart, spit on the table...there may be other manners they have that I didn't notice were actual manners, but I did notice the bad manners at least. XD They're friendly people at least, I'll give them that haha.
Ok cool! Got Vietnam right
Haha oh yes, I know Canadians aren't that quiet. XD It's funny that Hetalia made him that way.

Really? Haha that is something new, based from what my friend told me about Hong Kong, it sounded like they are those people who areΒ like manners manners and nothing else but again I never live there.
Right! XD But it is cute, idk I like Canada, he is one of my favourite characters in Hetalia. Lol, imagine if we were exactly him, we would be known as the invisible and forgotten country XD

Haha well that's what the Hong Kong people want you to think, and what they think of themselves. They firmly believe they have the best manners. They however do not xD Living there has certainly opened my eyes.
Lol so true xD He is adorable and loveable, but let's be honest in that it is best that you all aren't like him xD

I see. My friend was telling how much she didn't like school there and one of the reasons is everyday, they would make the students watch a video about manners, everyday and my friend got sick of it and the teachers would teach them everyday that she was really sick and tired of it. So she is like an expert about manners and would always be all about manners except me lol she thinks I am rude because of my lack of manners. XD
Yep, I 100% agree with you. XD

I wish you luck in the adulthood transition program. Don't forget to bring out your inner child every now-and-then. While being a responsible *gag* adult xD is important, so is having fun!

You just gave me an idea to bring back the ask account/page idea, but it has to be not based off Hetalia, yet it's based off my original story. But since I need some more time to develop my stories, my ask account idea will wait a much longer time to release.
I'm already in that program, but thanks! Bringing out my inner child is way too easy to me. I gave four genetic (I think) disorders and I have to keep them under control. But yeah, I agree that having fun is important.
