Requested byOne day, The Thin Controller had been strolling along an old path, when he spotted something near some bushes. There, all covered up were two narrow gauge engines looking miserable. Their names were Stuart and Falcon, and they explained that they were sheeted away after the Aluminum Works was completed, and that the manager had no use for them anymore. So the Thin Controller decided to help them get restored. The little engines were very grateful for that, and little did they know, that they were in for many adventures at their new home.

Well, Duke is found that same year and restored by the time Sir Handel has to go to Wales.

And in case you're curious about how long it takes for Sir Handel and Peter Sam to talk about Duke in the first place to the other engines, they were bought for the Skarloey line in 1952 and Duke was first mentioned by them in 1969.

I see. Why didn't they mention him sooner though?

Lots of things made them hestiate, be it financial problems or even emotional problems.
- Four Little Engines: Rheanes was on an overhaul already and Skarloey went on one shortly after. Plus the old engines were strangers to them at this stage.
- The Little Old Engine: Rusty and Duncan were bought over, Cora, Getrude and Millicent were restored and Ada, Jane and Mabel were built. Again, Rusty, Duncan and the open coaches were strangers to them at this stage.
- Gallent Old Engine: A bunch of saloon coaches were found and in the process of being restored. They needed to get to know Rheanes better.
- Mountain Engines: On top of the aforementioned saloon coaches, Culdee, Skarloey and Rheanes told Sir Handel a story that damaged his confidence for a while. (Likely having nightmares about Duke having a simalier fate).
- Very Old Engines: Duck and Dukes. Need I explain more?

Very tough times. Everytime they were about ready to get their thoughts together, something goes wrong.

Was there a bit of conflict between the two engines and Duke? Because I remember reading a fanfic you and someone else wrote about regarding this type of situation.

Yeah. Sir Handel and Duke still have a fight and Peter Sam is horrified by it. But this time, the fight ends when, long story short, Duke's breaks fail and he nearly crashes. Sir Handel manages to slow him down and Duke is inches away from a set of buffers. The two manage to patch things up, and now Duke has been given buffers of his own.

I guess both Stuart and Falcon are renamed to Sir Handel and Peter Sam after purchased by the Skarloey Railway, Lucas.
