A snare matriarch encountered in its nest by Rasha as he descends ever deeper through the vast cavern network of Sraneft Jur. Snare moss covers nearly the entire nest, and the entangled, digested remains of hapless interlopers protrude from the cave floor. Snare matriarchs differ from their brood in several ways. They are sessile, hanging from one wall or ceiling for the duration of their long lifespans, with bilateral arrays of pulsating organs grown along those surfaces. Hanging sacs contain lethal amounts of the psychotropic properties otherwise valued in snare by some indigenous cultures. Fewer but much larger than those of its brood, wooly individual tendrils probe the vicinity with movements more indicative of animal sentience.
